I watched the video last night. That's a terrible feeling. The only possible other thing you could have done was to get a tracking dog on the case. I had my 2021 buck tracked down by a dog. That was the first time I've had to track a deer me than 100 yards. In the end, we got him by it wasn't looking good from the start. I'm going to be getting out this afternoon for a sit in the wind. It's supposed to be blowing 25+, so I don't think I'll be climbing a tree. But I can tuck in to the edge of some tall grass on the edge of a poorly grown field corner and hope for the best. Is anybody out today? I'm sitting the inside corner of a corn field. Based on camera data, there's sporadic activity from a couple of small bucks that would get passes and a plethora of does. I'm not exactly comfortable sitting on the ground to hunt, but 30 mph winds kept me from getting into a tree. Windy sits at usually not productive for me, but I'm still out hunting and in an area where I can't really screw too much up if I get busted. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
My first hunt will be tomorrow. I might play “whack a doe” tomorrow evening just because. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That was definitely my plan for this season as I was very rapidly running out of meat in the freezer. I don't have that problem anymore! Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Hoping to get out tomorrow, but broke a tooth this morning, have my annual physical and my wife said something about going to her parents...
Nice she made plans for her to stay busy during hunting season? Sounds like a keeper! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve never targeted a specific doe before but here we go! I’m going after white face tonight! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well pops went to the one property we hunt and wasn’t even set up and a doe came by at eight yards he rushed and said he used twenty yard sight for the shot and aimed shoulder high. barely found any blood at all and searched for two hours and never found any outside of the first ten yards out of the plot. sucks but still very early and the freezer will be filled in time hopefully! More bad news one of the target bucks coming out of last year I found remains of.
If there's one, there's more. That's never fun but it means you're doing something right to get grown that big. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
That sucks Ty but I’m glad you’re out hunting with your Dad and making memories. Saw 2 forks and 2 does this AM. Found a worked over scrape in a good area so the little guy and I and going after them tonight.
Nothing for the morning sit but a couple squirrels. Did some maintenance and getting some BBQ for lunch.
I'm done until after the 19th. My next sit will probably be that next Sunday. Next Thursday afternoon can't come soon enough. The drive won't be fun, but Colorado and the idea of chasing elk has consumed my brain waves. We'll have one day off scouting, and then it's season! 5 day-1st rifle, either sex tag. The only way I don't kill the first elk I see is if it's a non legal bull, or if the first one I see is a cow and the second one I see is a legal bull standing close by. My expectations are that I'll walk around the mountains and enjoy the scenery(i.e. pretty low). I'm into the second guessing phase at this point, so I know I'm done planning. It's on to preparation and packing. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
I’ll be out tonight. Got to go broadcast 100 pounds of winter rye into my bean plot. Then I’ll head to another property for the evening sit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
