Working on Sunday which is opening day but next weekend we have a cold front coming in and I’m off Friday-Sunday. Will also be able to in this Monday and Tuesday if I desire!

Feel like im so far behind and we open tomorrow. Found issues with my rest and have to go with a back up bow. Sighted it for 20 and shot a broadhead to make sure they fly together. I’d say they do because the field tip drove my broadhead and insert out of the shaft. Never had that happen. Taking the little guy in the morning to just watch. And check a stand. When will bucks start to move around your area? Or is it common with our movement here in Indiana? Usually around the 3rd week of Oct we will start to see bucks checking/making scrapes consistently. Nov4-11 is probably my favorite week.

My experience, middle of Oct, but mostly nocturnal where pressured.

If you catch am area without pressure you might find than up randomly more early/late, but the odd midday.

I got plenty of daytime buck movement, but not pushing it unless conditions are right...now that we opened yesterday and I'm not just antlerless hunting (reduction zone rules)...I'll for sure hit the stand if temp or pressure swings occur and are compounded by winds or weather shifts too.

Matter of fact later this week is a possibility for me to slip in with solely Highrise as the target if the pre-dawn wind sticks...problem is it may simply be too rainy to go justify the sit - not purposefully going to make recovery harder than it should be. We shall see.

This is going to be a week where a lot of deer get killed in Minni. Today and tomorrow, high 80's for Temps. Wednesday, it's dropping into the mid 70's with rain, then 60's by Thursday! I'll certainly be in the woods on Thursday, but that'll probably be my final hunt before heading to Colorado to chase the last bulges of the season. Thursday the 12th can't come soon enough.

I’m debating on if I want to go out tonight. It’s pretty warm and a cold front is moving in later in the week. I have a whole new climbing setup I’d like to get a real hunt in with before the weekend and tonight is my chance to do that so that’s why I’m considering tonight. I’m going to shoot my bow in a little while and think about if I want to make tonight my first hunt.

If there's a chunk of public land you don't care as much about, go for a trial run with the new gear tonight. It's always fun to scout your way into an area and hang-and-hunt. Having little to no Intel apart from the sign you're sitting over always has that "what if" anticipation.
It's against the rules to use trail cams in public in MN, so any public land hunt is with little to no intel. It makes it exciting until the end. Sometimes you win, but most times you'll learn.

I may just go shoot a doe on my main property. Bucks haven’t shown up yet so it would be a good time. But it’s so hot

Similar to my plan from the coming weekend. And the temps are suppose to cool.

    Morning sit...

afternoon property work...I need to pull some saplings along the road, get the 811 scheduled, mark where I want my drive, order some conduit/gravel and coordinate with my guy to cut the driveway into the property...maybe burn some brush depending on weather.

    Evening sit.

Rinse and repeat for the holiday weekend.

Nothing big on cameras but this is definitely the most screwed up buck I've had here. My camera in my best spot took a dump. It took a picture of me walking away and then nothing, won't power up. I'll get a new one up there this week.

Took my son out Sunday morning and we sat in a ladder stand together. We had 3 does come out perfect in front of us but they got on alert pretty quick. I don’t think he knows what don’t move is to the fullest yet:biggrin: We were covered up too much with foliage and they didn’t come to my 20 yard window. Seeing several fields being harvested already. Corn and beans.

    Update....
I'm down in Indiana hunting there opener. On 10-2 I shot a buck never ended up finding him.
I'll post a link to my buddy who does a YouTube channel. You can see the shot and the deer. I'm hunting tonight yet then back up to Wisconsin.

    Good luck everyone

Last night was a bust. I tried to scout and locate some good trees for an area I would like to hunt this year. On the way out I was being watched. It was hot and mosquitoes were pestome.
