What do you guys have for opening dates? Any trips planned? I'll be hunting no later than the 17th of September. My wife and I are headed to Colorado in mid-October for a rifle elk hunt. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
October 1st here in Iowa. Food plots are looking great! Got 6.5 acres of beans 2 acres of corn, and 3 acres of clover. Will be broadcasting in some rye in the beans in a few weeks. Should be a fantastic late season spot again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sept 9 for whitetail in NC, but I head to Colorado the 9th...I've blocked out 2 weeks, but it's a unit I know and took a cow in prior.... Our seasons run to Jan 1, but where I hunt are archery till end of Oct. Muzzleloader for a couple weeks and rifle for the remainder. I'll use the bow till gun season on public lands. Nov I may hunt my land with the bow or public with gun, depending on freezer status.
Why, I oughta... Hey man! Other than the rogue message, it's been a while. It'll be good to catch up.
For sure! Wish I was headed to Colorado to hunt with you again! I was supposed to go last November for a rifle hunt but my friend bailed on my 2 months prior. I desperately need hunting buddies that want to be adventurous. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m headed to out there on Wednesday tho for a family camping trip! At least I’ll get my mountain fix this again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What area of Colorado are you heading to? My tag is either sex for two zones, both about 60 miles west of Denver. It'll be my first elk hunt, and I'm not going to be picky. The first legal animal I come within range of is going to get shot (at). It'll also be my wife's first hunt (though we'll probably get out and sit on the stand a couple of times prior to leaving). I've been trying to get her to come hunting with me for years, and she finally decided to join me on my most ambitious hunt to date. Hopefully, it'll at least be a fun trip. If she has a good time and wants to go again, we can eventually make it a full family trip with our two girls, and I'll be the most contented father I could be. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
That's some more rugged country. You cannot be in too good of physical shape hunting along the continental divide. And during rifle season the snow will be a huge wildcard.
We've been training hard. Heavy packs, mixed with running (her) & rowing (me) since we found out about the tag we pulled. The hard part (obviously) will be the elevation difference between central MN and some 8-10-12,000 foot ranges. I feel like I'm in just as good of shape as I was last year for my Wyoming trip. I put just a shade under 60 miles on the boots for a decent pronghorn and a mule deer button buck. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Some familiar faces and some not so familiar - another year to hopefully start a new reign lol! Ty from Northern IN...with the occasional out of state trip - this year only chance would be Northern Wisconsin with a friend and an open invite. Indiana's main season starts October 1st but I have two properties in reduction zones here which means September 15th I can start, but gotta shoot an antlerless prior to an antlered if using reduction zone tags (I have lifetime license which includes them). Typically good for an antlerless harvest and a buck in that 120-150 class range....but who knows with life and priorities above hunting who knows what the fall will bring. Got some good ones around for sure though.
Looks like we still need 3 to check in. I suspect LC will be looking for team name and the team captain names soon...
