This heat is terrible! Looks like a slight cool down going into next weekend. As for this weekend, I will not be able to hunt. Had an issue with my CBE sight and just sent it in for warranty work today. I will have my son out though this weekend. Seen a nice 3 yr old 9pt with a split brow Sunday when we went out along with a bobcat. Buck was probably in the mid 120 range
Good luck to those that season opens tomorrow!

Got in a little late this morning. Dust off the cobwebs with gear. Gray light entry. Bumped some deer in the timber. Got in my stand and have a doe feeding in the field. Some doe ran across and she stayed. Two spikes came out and played around with her a bit. They just finished some sparring. Good morning so far.

Does just started blowing in the timber block [emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] yds away. Blowing like crazy out of no where. I can tell they’re moving and blowing but not running. Next thing I see is a bobcat getting chased out of the timber into the crp. Haha. Awesome

Tony sorry for your injury. Kinda bad luck it happens right at hunting season. Hoping you get fixed up and have a fast recovery.

    Happy Opening Day, folks!

To say life has been chaotic with a newborn and a toddler would be an understatement lol. I will get out there eventually but might take some time.

    Good luck to all!

Good luck with the little ones. They’re a handful. I told my wife no third trimester during rut. She didn’t listen but she At least let me tag two deer before giving birth to our daughter Dec 27th. Fast forward to today with a 3 year old and 9 month old. It gets a little easier. Not much.

My surgery is scheduled for 12/1. I needed to be in my tree stand tonight!

Trying to figure out a way to get after this guy on one good leg.

Alrighty y'all, I've been busy with work and haven't had the time to stay in contact this year... that's over with now!

I do want to let y'all know that I will be adding some points to our scorecard here in a little bit... Gotta get him measured up first! IMG_3546.jpg

Well I'll say you were busy.

    Awesome buck Greg.
    Congrats!

Quick glance guess is he is in 40s.
    True hammer!

I hope to get out, and I have got a plan...

    Thanks Buddy!!!

I'll post the whole story in the next day or two for those that want to hear it... I'll just say it was a crappy shot on my part and I didn't find him until this morning. I shot him yesterday evening. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't any good and that's what really makes me mad (at myself).

Looking forward to hearing about your hunt.

Don't beat yourself up to bad. Normally they wouldn't go bad over night but this heat makes it another story.

Yeah it was still almost 80 degrees at midnight last night. Miserable! When we couldn't find him I knew there was a good chance he'd be ruined if he died quickly and I do believe he did. It's just a very unfortunate deal.

Agreed, but you found him in a reasonable time frame in my mind.

    Crazy weather!

I’m glad you found him. I’m assuming you felt or knew the shot was less than desirable and backed out. It would have been a tragedy if you bumped him and never found him at all. Don’t beat yourself up. This story still has a happy ending. Congratulations again.

Most definitely, I knew instantly when I shot that it wasn't where I wanted it. I film my hunts so I'm also able to replay the shot back to confirm. My cousin brought his thermal drone to look but way to much foliage still so that didn't work... He had over 3 hours to lay before we went in on foot looking... didn't find him last night, we couldn't find any blood besides one drop right where I shot him at... we backed out not knowing and I went in and found him this morning. By the time I found him and started opening him up he was already turning green on his hams. I decided to snap a couple of pictures before it got messy and then went ahead and gutted him but he was already green all over and it was deep in the meat... Even in the backstraps. I'm proud of the deer but I'm not happy with myself at the moment.
