Thanks! Hope you're at 100% soon. Going without beer is tough!

Got out this morning a set up a brush pile blind overlooking a hidden grass field on its NE corner. It's surrounded by bedding thicket. Should be a good blind for all west ends. Also hung a cell cam in a major funnel. Trail showed a lot of sign. Couple fresh piles of buck poop on it.

Congrats on the new place James. Knock one back for me. I can't drink beer anymore. My doctor says I'm allergic to it! Causes me to bloat up Iike tick that's been attached way to long...

Good grief. I didn't even know that was a thing. Is it gluten allergy or something? Beer only?

Yeah mainly just beer. It's not a gluten thing.

Think I’ve been spotted. After this camera being there for a year this is the closest a deer has gotten to it.

Got out to the lease this morning to reposition a camera a coon had messed with. Checked all the water holes and the river for any dead deer. I was relieved not to find any. I've been hearing about quite a few being found.

SIL found this little buck on his place tonight. EHD most likely. Found it near a creek.

Tony that's too bad about the EHD, hope it doesn't get too bad there.

I hunted sat evening, low 80's, no deer, seemed a little too warm to be hunting.

My youngest boy went hunting sat evening to, hunted by a creek, shot a doe and she just went a little ways and dropped in the creek. Told him that's a good way to get the meat cooled down. thumbnail_IMG_0082 (1).jpg

    Congrats to your son Rick.

It's hit some places around here pretty hard. I went to a memorial get together Saturday evening for my hunting buddy and a bunch of the guys that were there talked about finding several dead bucks. One of the guys is a DNR officer and he said that it was pretty bad this year.

Me too. I hope we get cooler weather soon!

    Rick, congrats to your son!!!

Sorry for being absent y'all... had to work some nights and decided I needed to unplug for a bit after this past week. Went and enjoyed some time in the woods yesterday, getting my spot behind the house ready to go. I'll be headed up to the lease sometime this weekend to put cameras out. Still have a couple weeks before season but it's getting here fast!

Moving truck shows up today. Last two days have been crazy hell getting everything out of that house. Some good news came in this morning. Mom’s house received an offer. Counter-offer being made now. Potential closing date of October tenth. Only on the market four days. God is good.

Found this map on the DNR website today looking for info on reporting suspected EHD.

I circled my hunting area on the map.

Not good! My areas are maybe 30-40 minutes north from the epicenter of the southern Ohio outbreak.

So far none on the places I hunt, but the big boys I had on camera have disappeared. I hope the reason is bachelor break up time and not ehd!

Yep same here and on our IL lease, the bucks have moved on to another food source I figure. Oaks are loaded on my OH farm along with the IL lease. Beans are yellowing over in IL so that makes sense. It won't be long and scrapes will be the hot spots!
