Thanks, guys, for all the kind Comments!
He scored 146 3/8. Dressed weight was just a hair over the 200 lb. mark.
Monday it finally cooled from the 80's to the 50's and had a west wind to hunt the food plot I've had pictures of him at.
I wasn't expecting much the camera there wasn't showing much activity.
It was fun evening some does and fawns showed up, later a fork horn was chasing them around. Later a smaller 8 point fed his way through the plot and headed to some brush across the plot. The buck I shot showed up at end of plot and followed the eight point. For about half an hour I could hear clanking of hours of them sparring just out of sight. 8 point came out of the brush and came to mock scrape by my blind. He kept looking back and the bigger buck was coming towards him. Had a 32 yard quartering away shot at him. After the shot I could see him running for about 80 yards, he was just about out of sight and it looked like he started slowing down and just disappeared. I was hoping he went down. At 72 I knew I would need help getting him loaded in the truck, called my Son-in-law and buck was laying where I last saw him.

I'll be out hunting again soon and shoot a doe.

Good luck to all the rest of the team hunting!

This buck is 27 yards from the ground blind we put in yesterday. I may shoot him if he gives me a chance. Normally I like to try for a 130 or better buck. This year I'll be doing good just to get a shot off on a legal buck.

On another note. My buddy that runs a guide service has offered me one of his hunting houses come gun season to sit in.

The last few days with this cold front bucks have been hitting the ground here in Ohio. A 163" 10pt was taken off of one of our farms Wednesday and a buddy of mine took a 150" 10pt yesterday morning on his lease. I'll be out this evening, Saturday and Sunday morning.

Lost a property a couple days ago, but given another that is closer to my primary hunting area. Looks like it could be pretty good. Still trying to get things in order at the house. I’ve only been out twice but have seen a good number of deer. No bucks of any consideration. Looking into my first saddle set up to scout and hunt this property. The older I get the less I am interested in humping around that lone wolf alpha II.

Got another ground blind step up this morning with the help of my son in law.

Found my first EHD casualty on the lease today. Dead 6 point.

Tony that's to bad about the dead buck and EHD in your area.

You and your son-in-law did a great job of corn stalking that blind in. Should work good.

Been out a few times this last week. Playing the sitting in the wrong stand game. Sat afternoon almost had a big doe in the right place but she fed off in the wrong direction ultimately. Later had a yearling doe at 10 yards for a while i videod and let walk off. Pouring rain and 30 mph winds now on this work holiday. Wont get back out till fri aftwrnoon

This guy is pretty regular on the community scrape. Need a westerly wind to hunt him. They are calling for the wind to change toward the end of the week.

He’s a dandy. I have seen one buck on my cameras and he is still nocturnal. Hoping in a couple weeks he starts coming around I the day time.

Finally getting a nice cold front this weekend here in Oklahoma. I'll be getting back out in the woods Sunday! Hopefully this will end the 90 degree days for the rest of the year!

I would like to get out for my first hunt on Sunday. Thats the plan right now. Gonna try and make evening hunt out of the corn field blind. Should have a good wind for it.

Cooler weather and rut fast approaching, hunting will be getting good.

New buck showed up at my food plot. Youngest son sent me picture of a great buck he has in his back yard. He lives 30 miles away and has just 10 acres, WGI_1981.JPG thumbnail_IMG_0263.jpg most years he has bigger buck pictures than I get on my 400 acre farm.

Good luck to all the team hunting!
