Hey guys ,so I'm new to this site's contest stuff, I posted a pic of doe with bow then one with me, her,and bow with bolt. Hubby took those and it's basically the same shot he clicked 4 x' s....I hope two of those are what the contest needs. Now where do I find the tally sheet as it were? No weight on doe...this northern gal isn't use to warm hunts and the fly's and bees were tweaking my brain I had to get her done immediately!...Lol I used my wicked ridge warrior XL with carbon express pile driver 20" bolt tipped with 100gr.G5 Now it wasn't a good shot. I shoot a rt. Hand compound but I'm lft handed with the cross bow. She snuck in on my left side and close. By the time I could move enough she was getting spooky. She started moving away and I sighted her in but she caught the movement and was looking. It was a off side quartering away aim and I aimed back a little. As I squeezed she spooked and it went right into her left hip and up through her body cavity under the spine. 20 yrds and the bolt never existed the body cavity. I watched her run down hill 100 yrds , stop and tip.over. gutting wasn't a mess until...I went to pull everything out and it was stuck. The bolt had gone in and out of the very top.of guts I had to cut the guts to release the bolt...she'd been eating ALL night.. She had milk but no fawn was around her.
Two pics that are different. I see that your ear tag is in a different position in the two pics, so that will do. You don't need a weight, can if you have it. I usually don't weigh the Does they are all 80-100 where I hunt so won't even be close for the trophy Doe contest.
Joe, post that Buck with 2 pics or video and rack score. We are in first place and a quarter of the way to winning once you post.
You guys are killing it so far! Good job! I’ve always said it but does will win this thing. If almost everyone shoots a doe and half of us get a decent buck, we will be in the running! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was happy to see some slight differences in the pics you posted. I saw your post above while I was on stand and I was hoping it wasn’t going to be a problem. The tag being different was enough, but it’s also obvious that “Hubby” doesn’t hold a camera steady. The second image shifts to the right a little and I would have counted that too. I’m glad it worked out. Congratulations again!
Joe will post his videos at some point. He has to edit them and make them presentable. He turns out some good video.
Thanks, I'll make sure they are quite different on the next one, fate willing. It was a miracle I got him to take the pic at all..Lol he hates bow season let alone an early doe. But to his credit, he set up my skinning pole and turned on the deer freezer before I got home. He also bragged to his dad about my taking the doe.
Sounds like you may have a keeper there. Good luck with the rest of your season and I hope your next scorecard entry has a lot of “points”.
42 yrs...thus far. You'll be the first to know because "points" and mounts have never mattered to me. I'll need help with scoring.
Congrats on the doe OND! This is the 1st year/team that I've been on, where scored/led on the scoreboard. This could be the best season yet! Once again, CONGRATS to all who has scored early!
Right on guys and gals. Way to get points! I haven’t seen nor heard an elk yet. Our first day my dad rolled his 4 wheeler and pinned his to an aspen tree for 30 plus mins. Thank god he was badly injured. That set us back a few days. We’re back at them though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry to hear...Several years ago I flipped our Suzuki over on me. It was a bazaar accident and got lucky. Just a seriously bad bruise and permanent dent in shin. I was able to dive off the machine and roll fast enough to kick it off me as it rolled down the bank on top of me. Hope he recovers fast
I am more than likely not even hunting until I get to Kansas. Right now I am looking at heading out the first of November for about 10 days.
