So you guys know I haven't been out with weather, high winds and holidays. I finally had a chance to get out to just check property...Hhhmmmm trails a nasty mess ,so cleaned up. Two blinds nearly blown off towers. Fixed that and found Rivers blind with door wide open and filled with snow. A few small deer tracks and at least 2 bigger buck tracks. One medium-sized pizzing blood.tracks concentrated at garden area. Now that said our place is just over run by coyote. I don't know why because there have been no gut piles. One cam had a 1 1/2 -2 1/2 yr. Old buck. The only deer on cams. Gun ends the 12th then late bow/ muzzle loader. My freezers are full, I'm out of canning jars, so I'm having a difficult time justifying going out. Son did well this year and gave us meat because he has a full freezer.Taking that early doe changed things on my hunting. Though thank God I got her because other than opening day of gun doe were elusive as usual. I still have until Jan first. All the regular late bow/ML will be really warm.
Thankyou LC. Was just about to PM you about this and a penalty. Glad I checked in on the team thread one more time before I did. Frustrating to know you should be in first place , but are not. Thanks for your attention to this.
My buck is being mounted from last year. I think the taxidermist is using the wrong form. Ahhh. I asked him if it was the Mackenzie 8900 just to be sure but haven’t received a response yet. Anyways besides that would you guys angle his head down a bit. His antlers are so tall I think it’s hard to see it all with the straight on look. The top pic is the form I chose. It ended up being correct he just likes to alter them I guess. This is after alterations and he’s assured me it will look good haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ya he said it’s the 8900 just different head position. He altered the head to be turning like I wanted so we will see how it turns out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry guys i haven't been active in the thread/hunting. I've been out before thanksgiving, entire house hold contracted Covid. Not to mention, work has been hell. My dept. is working with a skeleton crew(2man) on premise IT team. It's still not to late for me, to salvage the rest of my season(Jan.). Hope to get in the stand this month, if priorities don't hender.
Good luck I'll be out late as well... these winds are killing me. I just had to recover a blown away blind.
Just lost power for a few minutes...the bad winds aren't even here yet..should be an interesting evening.
We had several outages last night. It was still ripping this morning . It was a tad noisy in the blind.
Anyone still hunting? My big buck is coming in closer and closer to daylight. Won't be long and hopefully he messes up.
Still gun season here. Got a couple tags to fill by Sunday. Then archery starts back up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, not today it was 65 and I had things to do. We are under another wind advisory , up to 45 mph. Temps drop like a rock tonight and I'll be out in the morning again
I am done. I only hunted about 5 days all year. If we could get all our bucks entered and when Dan smashes an Iowa giant we would be running away with this.
Yikes don’t put that pressure on me! Lol. Late season is always tough for me. I will try my best! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
