Great to hear a report from the field Rick. Still really hot here. A couple hard horned bucks reemerged after a brief absence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got a lot done at the ladies grandparents house today. Sad situation they’ve been farmers all their lives super healthy until a few months ago when grandpa had 2 strokes. He’s now in a home and grandma can’t really take care of herself that well. Had dinner with grandma and hung out for the day. Mamma with triplets still hanging around and a few 8pt showing back up. Won’t be able to get out next weekend because of a bachelor party. I’ll be in the stand eventually. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
84 degrees when I went out yesterday evening. Saw about a dozen does and fawns scattered around the soybean field. Two does and a fawn fed 20 yards away for half an hour. With the hot weather just not interested in shooting a deer unless it has a good rack. Deer are moving good with the high temps. I think they like to get out of the woods to get away from the bugs.
Our expanded season is open now. I grabbed my bow last week to shoot some, and a squirrel had chewed my cable, bow is at the archery shop getting replaced. I had just put new strings and cables on last year. Hopefully get it back this week so I can hit a few expanded area spots. Regular archery kicks off in October 5.
2 weeks from today I'll be in a treestand somewhere! If the weather forecast stays true which I doubt but if it does, looks like we got a little cold snap right when season starts!
Put over 1100 miles on my truck since last Saturday. Looked at some properties in Kentucky but haven’t found anything yet along the eastern side. We are spending the night in Bowling Green and looking at a few tomorrow.
I'm making a plan on where to go opening day. I'm hunting national forest and I have a real good one occasionally daylighting, and 20 miles away have multiple good bucks hitting a scrape just about daily.
My cell cameras have been slow for about a week or two. Barely getting pics of does now. Kind of worried if I'm getting hit with EHD. My buddy found a doe this past weekend that he believes died from EHD. His property isn't too far from mine. I walked the creek and around some spots last weekend and didn't find any. I don't really know whats going on, has me nervous tho.
Nice bucks, it’s great to have options. I hope they keep daylighting for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ran out to the lease this afternoon and moved a couple cameras. Finished hanging a new set and did some superficial scouting. Acorns are dropping pretty good, and the neighbors took their corn down(very early). Season opens next Saturday. I need to do a little trimming at the new set and I might move a stand. Getting excited to get out there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Spending the night in Louisville. Went to one property that had high potential, got to the hotel to do a little more research and found that it was under contract as of yesterday. Heading back to NY tomorrow or Friday, might take the long way home, I found a property in WV that looks interesting. I’ve put about 2 months of miles on my truck the past 5 days. Going to see the Ark on the way home that should be a good time.
Hope not, stuff is nasty. I would think you'd be seeing them in the creek, I did 4 years ago. Has been a super bright full moon, maybe they've just shifted for a bit. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
We t out to my farm yesterday to fix a camera they knocked down, foot plot is not doing well. Terribly dry there, didn't realize they haven't been getting the same rain we have. Might be a bit rough late season. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Beans are coming down at the lease. Hopefully the loggers won’t get in there right away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Checked cameras today, just small bucks and does. Moved one of my cell cams to a ridge thats loaded with acorns and my phone has been blowing up with doe pics. No bucks yet. Hoping this temperature drop tomorrow will get the deer activity up. Have a lot of coyotes on camera, going to have to trap them when season starts Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Finally got one of my target bucks on camera out of velvet. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
