Didn’t hunt today. Spent the day with my wife. At about 130 we were taking the dogs out to go to the bathroom. Went to the edge of my yard to where the tree line was where the dogs relieved themselves. All of a sudden a doe runs by at about 25 yards. Then a buck chasing the doe runs by. They head right to my stand about 75 yards away. Picture is under my tree
Finally got my deer back from the processor. The guy tells me it’s been done for awhile. I’ve tried calling him numerous times with no answer. I’ve never used him before and wanted to give him a try. Interesting how he does the meat. He shaves almost all of it down into paper thin sandwich steaks. I didn’t get any regular roast or back straps unless he turned them into stew meat. I am excited to try the steak sandwiches but I feel I should have got more meat back. Everything was vacuumed sealed so for 120 can complain to much, doubt I’ll go back though.
Sorry I've been MIA, got out for a bit yesterday but had zero service. Just got back from pheasant hunting in South Dakota with some buddies, had a blast but not many birds, have way more around here in Iowa. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

So quick story about the ten point. He was a home boy on my lease. I had pictures of him daylighting all the time in October of 23. Sadly I didn’t check that camera until months later. Family of the farmer found one of his sheds this past spring. I started getting pictures of him over the summer and was pretty happy he made it. As the season rolled around I would get pictures of him fairly regularly all over the property. On my first day hunting and second sit of this season I shot over the back of a nice buck. I was obviously pretty bummed. A few weeks later I had another close encounter with a good shooter. I grunted to stop it at 25 yards and it stopped with its chest behind a tree, no shot it ran off. Fast forward to November I had a close encounter with the big ten. I had him at thirty yards no shot. He was chasing doe and even bedded down 40 yards from me. The morning of November 15 I set up in the rain in my favorite doe bedding stand. I was fumbling around with my umbrella. I looked into the back of the bedding area and he stood up and shook off the rain. He strolled out to 35 yards I grunted he stopped, no shot branches in the way. After a life time he started moving again. He hit another lane and I stopped him. I sent it, I had a feeling the impact was high and back slightly based on his stumbling and not dropping dead within sight. I had decent blood. I went to the truck waited a little over an hour to check it out. Wife and I tracked him for around 150 yards and had good blood until we didn’t. I called for a thermal drone service. It was pretty cool to see them in action. That being said we didn’t find it. The loggers that have been all over the property finally finished so I spent the day walking the property a couple days ago. I came back today and found him. I’m guessing he died sometime after I left the other day because I was maybe 20 yards from him and didn’t smell him. Not the way I wanted this story to end but I have closure. The quest for meat continues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s so cool. You left out the best part of the story. How you released it?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I usually have to release a couple a year, couple ways to do it. This one, I took a big sheet of ply wood and slowly walk up to it. Pin the board on its and block off his body/head so he can't see and attack me while I take off the trap. Two man job. lol Had a buddy help me, he was definitely nervous about the situation but it all went well. lol Actually most the time after you take the trap off they don't know they are free and they just sit there. I'll post a pic of the cat with the trap sitting right in front of it. He sat there for 10 minutes until he finally took off.
Learned helplessness in action. I’ve never seen one in the wild pretty cool. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
