    @Justin Goins

    I would have thought that would have scored high than 157

    I was thinking high 160’s to low 170’s

    still one hell of a buck. Congrats

    His G2’s were short. Just love his brows. Worked hard to get this deer. Put in the time and effort. Played the wind a lot and just kept at it. Might be my last year on that property but glad I was able to shoot this deer.

    So, the story. I have had this deer for 2 or 3 years on camera. Last year he had tall brows but not that tall. IMG_0222.JPG picture above is his last year.
    This year he made a big jump. Put on mass and his brows got even bigger. I have tons of trail camera pics of him this year. Well couple weeks into the season he came in and i shot over his back, thought i wouldn’t see him again but he never smelled me. Well i had another encounter with him and he had a doe and watched him for 4 hours and they never came to me. After that I had a couple more encounters with him just never close enough for a shot. So, then the landowner messages me and said they are letting other guys hunt out here. Worse news ever, plus they were already trespassing on neighboring property. Well today was opening day off shotgun here. I wasn’t going to hunt this property cause the guys that get to hunt it now are bad news, grew up with them and actually almost shot me on a different property I used to hunt. Well I get a cell camera pic at 1 this morning of him hitting the scrape he always hits with no doe. So I decided to go back to that property. Get in there this morning had 5 or 6 different bucks chasing one doe. Then about hour after first light I look across the field and there he was. Running all over the field, nose to the ground. He cut back to me and was heading straight to that scrape which is 15 yards away from my stand. I stopped him at 30, shot hit high and mid body. Clipped the spine, main artery, and liver. He trotted out in the field about 40 yards. Laid down and i got down and put another arrow in him and rest is history! Blessed is all I can say. Story of tall brow/twin towers came to an end. Still in shock that I got him. Thank the lord I got him before he broke his brows off. God truly blessed me this season. IMG_2347.JPG
    Pic of him at 1a.m. this morning.
    Then the trophy photos! IMG_2372.JPG IMG_2371.JPG IMG_2364.JPG IMG_2360.JPG

    Still in shock that I got him. The good lord did bless me yesterday morning. Tallest brows I’ve seen on a deer. Never be able to top those brows. Lol

    A couple doe and bucks and we are right in this thing. How many of you still have time?

    I am heading north Tuesday. Not sure on cell coverage I will have in the stand. Should have some at my buddies place. Going to be a combo bow and also rifle. Depending on the terrain I hunt. This is really big woods. Hundreds of thousands of acres of paper company land all uninhabited.

    I still have time. My puny 47 acres is basically dead after the crops are gone and the rut is done. I have good friends with land that will likely let me hunt does just for a chance at meat.

    My older brother will let me hunt his 120 acres any time I want too and he’s got food. But that’s an hour drive.

    Have cameras out on your 47? I wouldn’t count it out. They still might travel through there. 2nd rut.

    My trip up north was cancelled. Hunting near my house. I bought an xop rubicon hang on, wasn’t feeling comfortable with the saddle. My wife gets alerts when UPS is delivering to our house. Makes it hard to order stuff without her noticing. I had a saddle and platform, sticks then a hang on, and 2 orders from Sitka in 2 weeks time. It’s hard to explain why I need so many tree stands and camo.

    I am trying brother. No Kansas tag is killing me. I am not a very good hunter unless I am in a target rich environment.

    Keep grinding, I don’t think I am either the only reason I get anything I believe is time on the stand.
