I'm just going to try longer sits in the afternoons. Get wore out going mornings and evenings everyday. Been having trouble with bucks at ends of food plots and going along back edge of plot 62 yards. Using a decoy now and it's bringing bucks in close now. Been seeing different bucks every sit. Yesterday evening I had a good hunt. Seen 7 or 8 different bucks. One being a shooter. He was chasing a doe, they ran right by me and then turned around and ran right by me again. Couldn't get him to stop to get a shot. Going to look at a house this evening, probably won't get back out until Thursday. Some new bows drop this week, might go to my local shop just to check them out.
Rain today and grinding out some work. Decided I had better take tomorrow and Friday off to try and get it done (I’ll still have my rifle). My older brother has 120 acres northwest of me. He let me know I’m welcome over there at any time. Will probably head over there Friday evening. Haven’t seen him since May so it will be nice to have some beers and catch up. Yeah I have to stay in my county cause I work at the county courthouse and one of the laws is you have to live in the county. Dumb but its whatever. We want to stay in this area anyways. We put in an offer today on a house, not real optimistic cause the owner seemed like he could get what he was asking for it so he probably won't like our offer but you never know. Wanted to get out tomorrow after work but forgot my son has appointment tomorrow so hoping Friday I can get out. My cameras were blowing up yesterday evening and last night. No shooters but bunch of little bucks and does.
I’m dying to get back out. Saturday starts gun season. I’m pretty excited this year I’ve been able to let all my spots cool off for over 2 weeks, I’ve never had that much time before. Tomorrow is my last day at work then off for 17 days if I take them all. Not sure if it’s a good thing or bad thing by next Thursday my wife will be wanting me back to work. Might be a few beverages in my future. Friday night is beer camp in the neighbors garage. We all put in $20 each for the biggest buck. I could definitely use that coin theres usually 20 to 30 people in.
Thought he was an 8 point but just three on other side. Weighted him before skinning 190 lbs. I'll get him butchered and scored tomorrow.
I'll be back at it tomorrow evening. Hopefully our team starts killing! lol Gun season starts Saturday here for us. I don't gun hunt but everyone around me does so should be interesting. Rumor is the neighboring property has a buck thats pushing 200 in. I have not gotten a pic of him but my buddy seen him in the field close to my property and he said its definitely 180s all day. Would love just to get a pic of him or see him.
Going to try and leave work a little early. Will be in the stand this evening. 2 of my buddies killed a buck last night and one this morning! Wish I could have went out this morning. Good news they accepted our counter offer on the house! Back to being homeowners and being in debt again! lol
I got him entered in scoring thread. Have a trail cam picture of him. When I 1st saw that picture I thought a good buck to shoot and get him out of the herd. I'll still add a doe. Good luck to team hunting.
