Sat in 20mph north winds for a few hours tonight. Spike buck and some does and fawns. Heard grunting right at dark didn’t see him.

Think the spike was chasing around in the thick stuff.

Have to work until 2am I might try to hunt 8-11 or just go in the evening. I didn’t think deer would be out tonight so early but they were in the fields before 5pm

Gonna head out around 1:30-2 when the rain stops. Going after the tall brow buck. Hoping he wants to check his scrape after all this rain

I’m up in the stand. Rain has stopped. Hoping for the deer to start moving early. Tall brow buck was in here 3 days ago. The past 2 days have been in the 80s so hoping thats why he wasn’t in here since then. Good luck to anyone else thats out! IMG_2193.JPG

Hot one here today. Almost 80 so I figured it would be a good time to shoot my target since I haven’t pulled my bow back since I got the doe. Didn’t shoot too well to start but started grouping towards the end. Do you all shoot during season?

Yes. I can’t shoot more than twenty yards at the house.
The Hoyt is still shooting a little high. Not sure why. I haven’t done anything to the HHA tetra sight.
After I missed that buck with the Hoyt I started shooting my old trusty Elite. The only problem is I had new strings put on and it needs to be sighted in. HHA king pin lite sight.

All set up. The warm up has started here in MN. 15 degrees warmer than yesterday. It’s the rut and anything can happen.

Ended up seeing 6 deer. 8pt, spike and 4 doe. The only one that gave me an opportunity was the spike. I tried to cut the 8pt off but I think he bedded down in the golden rod. I waited a little to see if he would come out but he didn’t. The wind was good for stalk or otherwise I wouldn’t have tried. Here’s a pic of the scrape with my stand in the back and a couple pic of the layout of the property. The 2nd pic you can see the pine tree in the golden rod I think he ended up near there. The last pic was what I was looking into it’s thick. Might give it another go there tonight to see if he checks that scrape. 874DF000-25C0-4F06-9C70-644171AEE5BA.jpeg 4E63D1C6-AD8E-410E-A950-368D813B27ED.jpeg 72C75100-6905-40AA-AF65-D7D1509DDFE4.jpeg

Shot the buck last night at last light. Entrance above the right shoulder exit before his unit. Not full exit the most ofthe arrow was still in him the. 4 inches and the broad head broke off on the exit. My son and I looked for 2 plus hoursand we asked some of the neighbors bordering the property if we could look in their backyards. Everyone was nice and said yes. My son said he found a couple drips on a leaf but he never showed me so I wasn’t sure if it was reallyblood he saw. We came back and got the dog and looked again, even with the dog he was on the trail but he got off itand just went with him. We looked a little longer but came up with nothing. So we were walking back towards the truck and my son wanted to show me that blood he saw. I went and looked and there were 2 little drops. We just keptfollowing that trail then I heard a deer take off. I told my son **** we jumped him. We took a few more steps andfound where he was laying. Took a few more steps and he was laying there. Must have been another deer in therelaying near him. My son got his first experience with a gut shot deer as soon as we rolled it over he said have fun withthat and walked about 20yds away. He dosent have the stomach for blood or that smell. Not much for blood picsguess I should have take a pic of the gut pile. Dropped off at the butcher, I’ll let him tell me if the meat is still good. Itwas cold last night. 28 degrees. Thanks for all the congrats.BHOD. Probably celebrate a little tonight and sleep intomorrow. Good luck out there.
