Unfortunately, I've been staying busy with everything else but hunting. Got a window carved out for this upcoming weekend to get out Friday evening and sit all weekend if need be. Didn't run any cameras this year but drove by the piece i hunt on Saturday and saw a handful of deer right away. So fingers crossed.
Haha that's partly why I didn't run cameras this year. I know there's going to be something nice out there. Why ruin the surprise right?
Which stand would you guys pick? Top one is surrounded by a corn and a bean field (already out) and the bottom is surrounded completely by crp.
So for the ones who don’t know I shot a buck this morning. He came in making scrapes, all postured up. Another little 8 was in the area. The big buck came right to the bottom of my stand and was smelling my climbing sticks. Then he wrapped around and gave me a 8 yard shot. Well my sight was set on 40 from shooting yesterday. Thats why i hit him high, come to find out i didn’t hit him as high as i thought still high tho. Bumped him around 3. Walked right by him multiple times and didn’t even know he was there. He ran about 80 yards or so and bedded back down. Went back in and almost got another shot at him he got up ran up the hill hurting real bad and went down the other ridge. We backed out for the night as it got dark. Didn’t sound like he went too far. Hopefully find him within 100 yards or so. He was hurting. Will try to keep everyone updated tomorrow morning.
