Very windy. Did some light scouting and attempted to get to my rut stand (can’t get across a full drainage). Haven’t stepped in this area since spring… poked my head into the willows and it’s torn up. Checked a cam I don’t have on my plan and have this guy show up. Not much daytime activity yet… but soon. Yeah i thought he died from EHD but he showed up. My uncle has one of his sheds from last year, he said he will give it to me if I kill him. lol Pretty sure I got another pic of him this morning but I requested a HD photo to see if I can tell for sure. His brow tines are just unreal.
Well the buck I missed the other night is still around. I’m glad I missed him because I still feel like I have a chance of catching up with his buddy. Good luck to everyone getting out this weekend. I go back to work for another week then I will have 12 days off. Maybe the corn will come down and the loggers will stay out of there and I can get it done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I requested for the last week of October off. The wind for that week sucks for most of my stand locations but it could change by then. I probably won't get back out until next week sometime.
Nice work Josh. Well well looks like we are in third place. Let’s keep it going! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Helped the in laws get a piano out of their basement and get an old hutch in. Getting fed a nice slow pork roast, potatoes, and carrots for dinner. Back in the stand tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So that tall brow buck was by my stand this morning right at daylight almost. Dilemma is i have to walk all the way across the field to get to that stand. Would bust him or spook any deer in the morning to get to that stand. Suggestions? Get in way early? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Full moon you could get there super early. If there’s no other option or access you might beat him to the field.
I have this dilemma for the south side of my property. I have corn which makes it better but it’s always hard. If you do go in I would get in at least an hour before sunlight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m gonna try to be in the stand 2 hours before light. Gonna take my time and hope he does the same thing he did this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I think this is reasonable. Deer are weird in the dark sometimes they will run off sometimes they seem unfazed. Based on my experience using FLIR thermal imaging. Could be the difference between mature buck and yearlings. In the woods they seem to tolerate you getting pretty close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got in 2 hours before first light, bump one doe but she didn’t blow or even really know what i was. Didn’t see any deer but heard 2 bucks sparring a little. Going to give the woods a rest until Wednesday or Thursday this week. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
