and you like that better than being in an actual lock on? Is it more comfortable?

I took some vacation dates so I can still try to get some consecutive hunts in other than just my usual Saturday's and Sundays.

I did October 25th & 28th so that will give me 4 straight days in the woods. We see a tremendous amount of activity on camera that starts around the 24th-25th of October each year.... It's like clockwork. Unfortunately, every year I always have something going on and never get to hunt those weekends. I don't think the wife is too happy because her friend every year has a birthday that they celebrate, but she gave me the go ahead and to take my weekend off.

When do you guys typically see a lot of action on cameras typically in your areas?

I haven't been in it for a long "sit" but it has been more comfortable in the short little trials

Sitting a different plot this evening. Wibdy now but the wind is supposed to calm down around magic hour...just hope the deer & yotes cooperate here!

I LOVE this spot. There is almost always some activity...walked in on 5 thunder chickens & had a doe walk through. On my way out i walked up on 3 different deer. At least i hope they were deer & not the bear!

Water there, good cover, a couple different funnels, food plot & other than the wind blowing snow in my face, wasnt a bad sit! I was wet & a bit chilly thereafter though! Lol not going to see anything sitting on the couch though!

Had a great weekend of hunting. I spent most of the time taking my son. Had a bad wind for my spots.
Saturday morning was a quick hunt. At first light the 8pt we passed last weekend came in along with a few does. At 7:40 a buck we call Diablo came into the plot. Once he turned quartering away at 30 yds my son sent a perfect bolt entering back lungs and exiting through the offside shoulder. A quick track job of 60yds laid his second buck and third deer ever. The three deer he has taken have all been great shots and I’m super proud of him.

Sunday morning I sat in one of our elevated Redneck huts on a large field. We have a few different plots planted along with an apple/pear orchard. Had two small bucks come in at day break. Half hour later I had three doe come in but they didn’t offer a close enough shot.

    Nice frosty morning

When walking to the blind do you carry a pistol with you due to the bears in the area?

What about the rest of you, do you guys carry a pistol when hunting? I do... If you ever walk up on a pissed off boar hog or a sow with babies you won't think twice about having a pistol handy. We don't really have bears in our neck of the woods.... never seen one in all the years I've ever hunted.

I used to carry. Most of the bears are passing through the area so making a little noise on the walk near the blind corners is enough to get them moving. Otherwise i can see or use my flashlight

I had a sow and two yearlings that walked into the plot about 2 years ago. Thank goodnes the yearlings stayed on the ground or im pretty sure the sow would have come up my tree to investigate me...

In Illinois we are not allowed to carry when bowhunting. So the concealed carry stays in the truck.

That buck your son got is a stud!!

Also I got my video posted. Here is the hunt!

    everywhere every day

In WI, I am less worried about bears than I am wolves. I hunt in this county:

    https://www.biggamehunt.net/blogs/bghjournal/hunter-fights-wolf-pack-380-pocket-gun

In MI I am only worried about 2 legged critters. Past couple of years we have been finding used needles at our campsite which is really just a county road that dead ends into state land. Had several encounters with shady people up there, but the hunting is great and we've been hunting it for the better part of 20 years so we're not going to get chased off by methheads

started working on my saddle set up this past weekend. I really like it so far, haven't shot out of it yet but I can't shoot in my backyard (inside city limits.) Just trying to get my climbing style and platform setup the way I like it.

I wasnt going to hunt next weekend but I might squeeze in a WI trip.

I carry for two legged scum. Nothing around my parts worth worrying about besides thief’s and druggies. We do get an occasional black bear every once in awhile.
