No luck over the weekend but had some fun sits.
Sat with my boy Saturday morning and he passed a nice young 8pt.

Seen mostly small bucks while hunting for my target bucks. They are coming in 30min after dark each evening. Going to move a stand closer to where I suspect them bedding.

Here’s a couple pics from the weekend at our hunting cabin. Just finished it up in August. Added an addition and metal siding on outside.

Now that's what I call a hunt camp! Good looking place man and pretty cool to see you have your son involved for the hunts. I am assuming since you guys passed on that deer, that he has killed something bigger or is there antler restrictions there for you guys? Looked like a really nice deer!

That is a very nice camp and a real nice deer, beyond the ears and QDM all day.

Congrats to KJ for getting us on tbe scoreboard.

I passed on a 4 point and 2 does this weekend. I'll shoot a doe no problem (and plan to) but I was really deep in the woods and close to private lands, not worth the hassle

I'm about to do my happy dance. To see temps this cool in Texas in October is almost rare for the upcoming weekend! I'll be in a creek bottom or oak flat this weekend looking for a few cruising bucks.

Got one area in mind that we found this weekend full of fresh rubs and scrapes. It has thick cover that they come out of to an oak flat with a creek. Have a buck in that area we call G2 because both of his g2's are split. Hopefully some success will continue this weekend!

I shot a buck last year and the neighbor fou d his shed if his 1 side grew 2 total inches it would have been miraculous. Weird how some bucks just dont grow much and some deer grow 50 inches season to season. That was ultimately what put ny buck on the hit list he just didnt grow.

I moved my "every other Friday off" to Monday this week and set off to scout some local public land. Figured Monday after opening weekend would give me an idea of where folks have been hunting and would also be quiet.

I took the .22 and left the bow back. It was hot, figured I'd be better off covering lots of ground looking for sign and popping a few tree rats.

Ended up seeing a good number a oaks dropping acorns, not much on tracks but the ground is super hard, and did see 2 does. All in all a good morning.

    Got home and started dinner.

    First one of the day!

Had a pretty crazy last couple days. Dad called Sunday evening saying he hit the biggest buck we have on camera right now, but the shot was back and was quartered to him a little. After discussing the shot and what the xbow bolt looked like we decided to wait until next morning. It was a short track job as the buck never left the field and had bedded 70 yds after the shot. One of our buddy’s that was there to help track is also an official BTR scorer for Buckmasters. Dad’s buck grossed 204 0/8” with 15 scoreable pts. The buck weighed 278lbs live weight. Giant body on him and we have him at 5 yrs old. Heck of a way to kick off the season. This was also his first sit of the fall.

He's shot one buck about the same size. On this lease we try to harvest bucks no younger than 4 yrs old. More age structure than antler restrictions. I had this 8pt at 3 yrs old at most, possibly a 2 yr old.

Incredible buck! If that's number one, I'd love to see #2 on the list lol

I got my H2 in on Monday and have been super excited. Still haven’t received my platform from Out On A Limb but it should ship on Tuesday.

I shot from it (ground level) yesterday and it’s solid

I’m new to this too so we’re going to be starting from the same place
