Ya got some shooters in WI Justin and a couple of really good ones in IL. Had a shooter 10 in full velvet sunday morning coming through perfect, then he hung up, started grooming himself, circled back to bad wind side of tree and bedded at 24 yds with no shot. He stayed bedded for about 20 minutes before bad wind gave me away and he slid out quietly where he came from. Almost! Sent from my SM-G991U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I think those are the same deer. Hard to tell as they are not the best pictures. I’m pleased to see some daylight activity. Cooler temps this weekend will hopefully have them on their feet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good lord!!!!!!! I couldn't imagine seeing a buck like that on the hoof!! It's been about 8 years since I hunted in Illinois and saw animals close to that caliber. I can't wait to be done with school and can travel again to hunt!
You have been on the delayed gratification pathway for awhile. Hopefully you can enjoy the fruits of your labor soon. If I may be so bold, you and the misses doing OK? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I seen some amazing things when I went to IL in 2013. Even when we weren't hunting. The bucks grunting through the wide open fields that you can see straight across for miles was a once in a lifetime for me. Surely don't see that in PA. We have some nice bucks starting to show up here, but I don't know if they'll stick around. Hopefully! But, I am not too greedy for my first bow buck. Just needs to be three high and not a youngster.
Ohio opens up Saturday. I'm not hunting OH, but the husband is. I forgot to pull his hunting clothes out and wash them. Guess that'll be on my list tonight. Mine have stayed in a container - so they just get hung up to air out.
Checking cameras tomorrow after work. Wish we were getting this cold front on opening weekend! lol I'll still be out on opening day. @Swamp Stalker you going to be out any this weekend?
Sorry I missed this yesterday! Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it! The wife and I are going through the motions. After the basement flooding and losing so much stuff, dealing with the insurance companies, we are barely keeping our heads above water financially. So, unfortunately, it's going to be awhile before I can jump ship. I was on the fence up until Tuesday evening....I found out that this past summer, my wife, her sister and friend had some legal issues on a girls trip. Long story short, she got arrested and is facing 2 misdemeanors. Finding out on my own, online, was a nail in the coffin for our relationship. I'm DONE. I want nothing to do with legal issues, and she is going down a path I refuse to follow (Alcohol misuse/related legal issues) I flat out told her that yesterday. I'd been on her about her drinking for the past 4-5 years stating that it is an issue and only a matter of time before it gets worse. Of course, I heard every text book excuse under the sun, like word for effing word... Now we have progressed into the next more serious phase, legal issues. It's only going to get worse, and I don't lover her enough to sink on the titanic with her. At least I have my internship, school, and the deer woods!
@Swamp Stalker get us on the board this weekend! If anyone else wants to be in the group chat let me know. I'll be starting the group text tomorrow. Just pm me your number
Washed my gear yesterday, looking forward to getting out on Saturday. I’ll probably skip the morning depending on the wind. Good luck everyone getting out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good luck this weekend @Westfinger @swampstalker just saw your post in the live thread. Sorry to hear. Keeping him in my prayers and family too. Checked my cameras today. My main 2 target bucks disappeared in the past 2 weeks. But got a new buck on camera and the buck i was on the fence about shooting shed his velvet and he will most likely get a arrow if he shows up in front of me this season. New buck is the bottom pic. I think i have a picture of that buck last year but he didn’t show up until December last year. Taking my fiances cousin hunting tomorrow morning for youth season. He wants to go to this public we have hunted before. This ridge is loaded woth acorns so it could be good just don’t have any cameras out on public this year. Thanks Justin. For those who don't follow the LFTS, I was all showered and ready to go out this afternoon after my Friday zoom meeting. but, I received a call that my sister in law's husband had a brain aneurysm this morning and had to go in for immediate surgery. They drilled holes in his head to relieve pressure but could not stop the bleeding. They've since called in close family to the hospital. 47 years old, father of 3. Seemingly in good health, though he drank and smoked butts. He woke up this morning and had his usual smokers cough. while coughing he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head and then had a massive headache.
