No luck - seen one coming in hot then veered off the path to never be seen again. Very slow evening. Nothing on camera - nothing in my field where I always seen them.., Thinking I'll skip tonight and get some other much needed things done. We'll see if I change my mind before then.
I just looked at forecast - supposed to rain tomorrow. Then be nice, but cooler, Thursday-Saturday. I'll skip tonight and continue onward starting Thursday. Next week I have meetings/prior commitments Monday-Thursday evening (UGH!) - but, I may try and rearrange my work and hunt the mornings.
I'll be out tomorrow evening and Thursday evening for sure. Suppose to rain all day/night today then stop tomorrow morning, hoping that they will be on their feet tomorrow evening when the rain stops. Really hoping the bow shop calls me Friday. We need to get some points on the board! Team 12 is pulling ahead! lol Still a lot of season left. Just a matter of time, it will happen!
I'll be out on Friday afternoon, going to scout my way in, then going out Saturday morning. Not sure If I'm going to my good rut spots yet or not....
9 days and a wake up until kansas. This is the longest time in close to 20 years that I have been into a hunting season without hunting yet.
I will be out after work. Rain is suppose to stop around 11. Hoping they will be up on their feet. Might try to leave work a little early to check cameras and hang a new lifeline in one of my stands.
In other news I ended up ordering a Tetra four pin and 2x lens kit. Sounds like the best of both worlds and you wouldn’t think that 2x magnification makes much of a difference but for me it does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am blind - so it'd make a difference for me, too. My next "hunting" purchase is going to be a new hunting suit. I hate being cold - but womens selection sucks and the kids stuff is too small.
Sorry I didn't update everyone how my hunt went yesterday evening. Saw a lot of deer. Spike was pushing does around and then all of a sudden, I think it was my 2nd target buck was pushing only one doe and he wouldn't leave that one doe alone. There was probably 8 to 10 does and he wouldn't leave that one doe alone or let the spike get close. Closest they came was 60 yards and they were in some thick stuff. Then on my way out shined the field and my number one was harassing a doe. I hurried up and got out of there. Was a good evening and will be back out this evening. Feel like its going to happen in the next couple of days.... i hope! lol
I hear you. I refuse to be cold and wet. When I was a kid I hunted in a cotton camo coverall and wore bread bags on my feet to keep them dry. Those days are long gone. Have you tried any of the heated clothing? We have a couple of the Milwaukee heated vests. They do a nice job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Let’s see some blood this weekend. My time is getting closer. My bow is actually in Kansas so I can’t even hunt at home if I wanted to.
I shot a buck tonight, but the hit looked farther back than I like, looked like liver and maybe gut, so I saw him bed down and I'm going to leave him till morning and pray the coyotes don't get him tonight. Couple picks of the blood trail.
Even I can see the blood in those pics. You said liver and “maybe” gut. If coyotes are a problem I’d be going out in about three or four hours after you shot him. I’d bet he will be dead right there. If he doesn’t die in four hours I’d think the coyotes would jump him and make the recovery even more difficult. Good luck on the recovery either way.
thanks. The one photo has some frothy bubbly blood, but most of the blood looked like dark red liver blood but the blood was also spraying and there is alot of blood to follow so I may have hit him better than I originally thought. The buck also bedded down right after I shot, he probably didn't go 70 yards. I'm going in after him at first light, my husband is hunting in the morning so he will come help me when he gets done hunting.
It’s good that he didn’t go far after the shot before he bedded down. With a little luck the coyotes won’t cut his trail and won’t find him. Good luck in the morning. I’m betting he’s right there stiff as a board when you get there.
I wasn’t getting notifications! Blood looks decent. I think he will be dead right where he bedded down as long as the coyotes don’t push him. Heck yeah! I’ll be checking our team thread religiously tomorrow at work! Lol Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
