I cant even pull the thing back to cock it. I've tried. They're so awkward and bulky. I just like my compound.
As of right now I will be there for 11 days, but I can adjust depending on how successful I am or am not. Last year I went for 2 weeks but shot my buck in the 4th day and headed home shortly after. If I need longer and I can stay longer as well.
Definitely awkward. They do sell ones that you can crank back. It makes it easy to cock and unload. Something to think about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@Westfinger I was 14 when I had my first surgery. They put staples in my back. I have scoliosis which is where your spine is curved. The staples didn't hold my curve and it got worse. Had to have surgery when I turned 18, spinal fusion. A rod on each side of my spine and around 20 or so screws. I always tell myself tho someone out there has it way worse than I do. Each day is a blessing from God and I have learned to not take anything for granted. Even the small things. Sorry didn't mean to go on this long rant. lol
Thankfully my scoliosis isn't that bad - but how awesome that you can continue on. I'm sure bow season weather can wreck havoc having the rods and screws (I know many who say it's better then a meteorologist). Keep on keeping on my fella.
Yeah cold weather does effect my back. I actually deal with back spasms in the winter. I have meds for it but I try not to take any meds if I don't have to. I usually layer up pretty good in the winter out in the stand. lol
Kudos to you. Majorly! Welp, that makes me sound like a wuss. I hate the cold. Major, major kudos to you for being so passionate about it and still being able to enjoy it through all that!
Sounds like you have the right attitude Justin. It takes most people a long time to figure that out and some never do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here is a x-ray of my back. Its crazy to think that all that hardware is in my back. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Oh goodness, that's a lot. Do they ever think it'll need replaced - or do they do follow up images to keep an eye on all that? I'd fear something breaking/moving and making a bigger concern.
Rarely do they ever need to be replaced or will move/break. I have restrictions like no roller coasters, bungee jumping, skydiving, anything in that nature. lol Four wheelers/dirt bikes I can ride but can't be jumping them or anything like that. Pretty much anything that jolts your back pretty hard i can't do. I don't have a heavy weight lifting restriction but my doctor told me I should not work in any factory that requires a lot of heavy lifting daily. Which I didn't plan on it anyways. That's why I got a office job. Still have it way better than a lot of other people. When i had my surgery at Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia there was a little 7 year old boy who had a halo drilled into his skull and a cart that he pulled around with him that had weights on it that was pulling up on his skull so his spine curve when hopefully straighten enough to have surgery. He acted like nothing was wrong and was running around our floor(scoliosis floor) on Halloween going to each room saying happy Halloween. I just had surgery and my family sent a bunch of candy which I wasn't aloud food for a week or two after surgery so I gave him both buckets full of candy. He was so happy and kept asking me if I was teasing him. lol. Ended up keeping in touch with the family. He ended up having surgery and he is doing good now. He won't ever to be able to bend over like everyone else. He will have to squat and won't be able to lift heavy weights. Seen a couple other kids in there have a S curve spine and its crazy. Like I said someone always has it worse. Just seeing that little boy run around with a halo screwed into his head and acting like nothing was wrong, was a huge eye opener for me when I was 18.
That’s the real deal there. That had to have been quite an experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Going out this evening after work. Got a decent wind to go back into the spot where I had a encounter with both my shooters.
I too will head out tomorrow afternoon. The 19 deer that are usually in field across from house haven't been there. Thinking they finally moved behind the house. Not hunting related - but because yall are mostly male here - disagreement this morning with my husband.....can left over pizza stay on counter? He says yes - I say heck no put it in the fridge.
