still not sure what my plans going to be for Saturday new buck tag will be in my hand for MD so that's tempting... but might stick with tradition and try to whack a doe with the rifle here in PA... I haven't killed with the rifle since 2017. The just passed statewide buck and doe are fair game for the entire two weeks. My area is so packed with hunters its going to be WWIII, which sucks the hunting here was just starting to get better where I was seeing deer most sits. Going to keep an eye on my MD cameras and make a last minute decision.
The last deer I shot with a rifle in PA was at 20 yards and I said never again. That was at least 15 years ago. Ever since then, I take the crossbow and the rifle. Ever since I haven't needed to use the rifle yet, but it's there if I need to reach out farther.
Happy Thanksgiving boys!! I hope y'all have a great day with family and friends! I'm hoping to spend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday getting caught up with schoolwork so I can hopefully get out in the woods next week!
Happy Thanksgiving all! My older son shot a nice doe this AM so I’ve done my fatherly duty. 3 more days of gun season and then smokepole season. I’ll let our property rest for all of muzzleloader and then start hitting it late season. Not much for bucks shot on the block during gun season so should be plenty left for late bow season. Going to sit for a buck yet with my son the last few days. Good luck all!
We're practicing our hunting skills inside today. My kid's new bed has a blind on the bottom and he's absolutely loving it!
My BIL shot this last evening in Ohio. It wasn’t the buck he thought it was but it came in fast and he had to make a quick decision. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Seems like a good decision to me!! Congrats to him!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Happy Belated Thanksgiving guys! I got out on saturday for our rifle season opener and put down a huge doe. This got my freezer pretty much full for the year. I may get out one more time the last weekend in rifle and try to get a doe for my boss. I also might go down to MD in the late season depending on how the movement is.
I met one of the neighbors last year while tracking my doe. Good dude and we exchanged numbers. I got this text from him yesterday (no mask)...
Saw this buck opening morning of shotgun season a couple of weeks ago. I never got a good shot, and he slipped away through the brush. I thought he was bumped in, as I've never seen him before or had pics. Then tonight I see these on my camera, after gun season. I'll be after him with the gun this weekend and if needed, the bow until season ends.
