I checked this camera for the first time since September. The formerly awesome property is sucky for a second year in a row. The only buck pic was this guy...who I think resembles an old friend from 2019. What do you guys think?
If he gets you excited and makes you happy, then he’s a trophy in my book. I’ve killed a lot of bucks like that and I am still proud I did. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I could have killed him 3 times in 2019 (top pic) and then he disappeared for 2020. Do you think that's the same deer this year (bottom pic)?
Definitely not the same deer. Typically when the brow tines are farther out on the main beam like the top pic, they stay there year after year. Bottom pic has brow tines coming out a lot closer to his bases The main beams definitely look similar. Besides, he should have put on a lot more inches than that in 2 years. The buck I shot this year at 4.5 gained at least 45 inches in one year.
Yep, lower brows and flatter beams. I'm trying real hard to make it the same deer! He's the first buck I passed with legit intentions of seeing in a year or two.
Skunk city for me again today. I'm taking a beating!! strong possibility I'll be out tomorrow morning ahead of the front. Friday is an all-day soaker/cold front coming through. I'm so behind on school work, I need the day to try and get caught up, I actually really need tomorrow too I have that much to do. I'll be going deep on Saturday, should be good right after the big front comes through.
Doe down in Kansas. Posted to the scoreboard. Apologize for being out of touch. Work has been crazy. Two more days in Kansas for a buck and the rut is on!!!! Hope everyone is doing well.
Congratulations on the doe Russ. Ditto to what Joe said. You need 2 pics with you, deer and bow. I only see one on the entry.
I'm leaving tomorrow morning to go back to Ohio. I'm going to take a big old Nanny doe. That's another 50 and I'll be tapped out on points.
I checked a scrape cam on my main property today. It died on Nov 2, but I got pics of a big 7 that I don't recognize. I'll venture into the woods for my other cams after the rut...
Anybody wanna teach me about cell cams? I researched yesterday and it looks like anything under $300 is going to have reliability issues. Reveal doesn't take pics, Spypoint is low quality pics, Stealthcam eats batteries, etc. Can I run them as normal cams and then just activate the cellular for Sept-Nov? I really just want one for the Millionaire property. Signal won't be an issue...hell, I could probably connect to a handful of wifis.
Sorry I'm of no help with the cell cams Josh! I'm all set for tomorrow. Going deep. Front rolled through dumping 2" of rain. Everything is going to be wet, so I should be able to get in quietly which is something I haven't been able to do yet. However, that means my head will have to be on a swivel. If I see a doe, I'll kill it. I'd like to hold out for a decent buck over a small one, so I'll see how I feel if a small buck presents an opportunity.
Josh, I bought 2 Reveal X in September. I bought a solar battery pack to go with them and I have had great results. I just purchased the new SK model but I’m not sure if the solar panels are big enough on them . Adam has all kinds of cell cams. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Sorry Josh I'm not able to help. I'm not tech savvy. Just got off work, removing all my tools from my truck, washing my camo, I have a good feeling about tomorrow. I had a dream last night that as the sun rise broke through that there was a doe on the edge of the field/Swamp timber. Unfortunately that's all I remember from that dream. Like Joe I'm planning on heading in deep. About 3 miles in. Going to a new spot in the same are if I can get back there and I'm not flooded out. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
I saw reviews claiming that the Reveal X missed a bunch of deer. Most people love them though. Right now, I'm looking at the Bushnell CelluCore.
Josh, I have spypoint and tactacam… 0 complaints with the tactacam, it’s the original reveal so I can’t comment on the newer models. I will tell you for the money I absolutely love my spypoints, I have 8 of them that I run and the quality of the thumbnail isn’t great, but if you have the deer within 20 yards you can see pretty good. The reveal is good out to about 35 yards, the buck in both of these pictures showed up today, one is a spypoint picture at 30 yards and the other is the tactacam at about 35, the reason I go with spypoint is they offer 100 pictures a month for free, so all off season I run them for $0 and during the season if I reach 100 pictures I bump up to another 250 pictures for $5 As far as bushnell goes, my buddy had a really hard time setting his up and he said the quality is the best of any for pictures, but sometimes he gets pictures 3-4 days later when he has good service.. Basically they all have their flaws, spypoint has worked the best for me. Whatever you do make sure the camera sends a picture to you before you leave it. I’ve started making sure everything is working before I leave the house as well. Hope this helps!
