That’s awesome Joe and you get to work with veterans. I wish our government cared more about our Vets than they do about all these illegals coming in everyday. I hope you do great things with them. That has to make the wife happy. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

Congrats @dmax4me and @alenhard15 !! So awesome! No Sunday hunting in CT, so I'm going to get caught up on schoolwork, clean some gear, and recharge some batteries. Sadly, my season ends November 16th at sunset. That leaves me with this week being the last full week of hunting. I will be out almost every day this week. I'm not to sure how many days I'll get to my deep spot. It is extremely defeating to go through the process of getting that deep (Wearing shorts and a short sleeve t-shirt, walk 2 1/2 miles, most of the trail is washed out with large boulders and loose rocks, 1200' of elevation changes up and down, climb cardiac/heartbreak ridge which is a 21% grade, all of which is a 2-hour process from parking to getting to hunting height, sit for 12 hours), to sit for 12 hours and not see anything, BUT, these are the cards I have been dealt. If I want a shot at a decent buck, this is what I have to do. I have a strong love-hate relationship with these woods where I grew up hunting. It has brought me to tears on occasion or two, due to physical and mental exhaustion of hunting here. Once I'm done with school in 2023, I'll be going somewhere in the midwest for 5-7 days and that will be my season.
Joe your dedication to your hunts are amazing to me. I couldn’t even imagine making a trek that far back into the woods through that kind of terrain obstacles. I really appreciate it and know that you have put in many hours of time and sweat in pursuit of a good buck. I pray that you are rewarded soon. Lord knows you are earning it. Well said Scott! I’ll be praying that you get one too Joe! I’ve had plenty of sits and seasons that were rough over the years but man you keep persevering!!
You'll get it done Joe! I know we all got faith in you! I'm pretty sure we have all have been there as well. Never know the lord may shine down and send you the biggest buck of your life this week! I know hunting public is hard. But the rewards make it all worth while.
My dad and I just put the tape to the antlers. I knew he was 160" buck. I thought he had more mass from my pictures but being a 4.5 year old buck and reaching 161-5/8" is pretty incredible. I just couldn't let him pass to get to 5.5 years old. I pass on 3.5 year olds in Ohio only because it's our farms and we are trying to get them to 4+. So far it's been working. Thanks again guys. I'm going to wait until next weekend when I come back out to shoot a doe. I have corn to pick out here that is still in the field.
