Think you called it wrong! Sounds like you had the luck this morning!!! Hoping for a short blood trail!
Still hoping you get that big'un I front of though! Thanks I'm hoping so too! Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
I do that in my head all the time. After a while you get pretty good at it. The ones that full you are the ones that have a lot of mass.
I had him at 117" looking at trail cam pics...well below my 130" self-imposed minimum. And I loved every second of the hunt!
I couldn't agree with you more. The next couple of weeks there are going to be deer dropping everywhere. Thanks for doing your part Josh. Now it's on the rest of us to take it home.
Hope you nail a giant tomorrow!! I'll be heading out again on Saturday morning for a few hours. If it is brown, it is down. After the hunt, I'll be checking out my rut spot on a bench/pinch/funnel point that I'll be hunting when my dad is in the woods. I haven't been there yet this year. There's nothing to really look for, because it is where cruising bucks go through. They leave no sign while cruising other than hoof prints or droppings. I guess I just want to make sure there is no sign of humans, lol! Sunday morning I'll be going deep to stash some gear for the days that my dad isn't with me. My roll-up deer sled, to get my buck to the cart road, and a climber/platform. I forgot I have a big backpack that I can fit all my cold-weather gear in, meaning I'll have 8 fewer pounds to carry in the 2 1/2 miles. I'll also be bringing my 21-year-old son with me Sunday morning so I can show him where I'll be when I text him saying I need help getting a buck out. The plan is for him to get my Hawk Crawler out of my jeep and walk it into me where I will have the buck dragged up to if I can get him that far myself.
Sounds like a great plan Joe. Sounds like you have your work cut out for yourself. Hopefully you will be able to bring a slammer out of there.
Had a good sit tonight. Weather turned out to be perfect after winds and rain all day. Thought tonight was possibly the night, but didn’t turn out to be the night I’d punch my tag. Took a couple cool videos. Saw 4 1.5s and passed a decent 3.5 so it was a good night on the stand. Could’ve shot 4 of the 5 bucks no problem, just not the ones I’m looking for yet. Working this weekend but think I’m going in late tomorrow and Saturday night so I can sit in the evenings. It’s just starting to heat up! Pic of the buck I passed at 12 yards.
I just have the privilege of hunting a pretty great property. Many people would shoot that buck and it probably be the biggest buck of some people’s lives. I see deer like this all the time and know there are a number of much better deer so it isn’t difficult to pass him. Just don’t be mad at me for leaving 100+ points walk for the team.
Not at all. I was saying that tongue in cheek. The great thing about the contest is everyone can still hunt the way they want and shoot what makes their heart race! We have some great camaraderie on the team and I’m always pumped for anyone who gets a deer, whether it’s a doe fawn, a spike, a basket rack, or a 180”!
