Contemplating buying a cheap mountain bike from Walmart so I can access my deep spots now without being drenched in sweat. Even when it is in the 50s I sweat like a pig due to my meds I'm on. When I go deep late October and November, I wear shorts and a t-shirt and am still wet from sweat. I'm just looking for a quicker easier way to get to the spots/terrain that promote deer movement. The 2 1/2 mile walk takes an hour or more due to the rough terrain. A bike could cut that in half even if I was going at 4 miles an hour...I just need my wife to understand the struggle, lol
Well y’all bow is back 100%. I finally got storm clean up complete and re-tuned the bow. I am happy with the first shot a 40 yds. It’s still to dam hot down here right now. Getting lots of activity on the cameras in Kansas. Headed up there early on 06 Nov and hunting until 12 Nov. vacation is limited with this new job. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this season so far. LETS DO THIS!!!
I would say that's pretty deadly at 40 yards. Glad you got it all tuned in. November will be here before you know it.
Well.... shot a lil doe last night with my stick bow from the ground at like 8 yds. Sadly, forgot about the contest lol I only took one pic of the deer and my bow. Nothing with me. I'll be sure to remember next time. Sorry guys. I'll be hunting MI a couple more days before heading to KS Friday. Still haven't killed a bear. My hunting pard killed one Friday night so I may have to take one more weekend on the bear baits when I get back from KS... too many tags, not enough time.
Congratulations on the doe but how could you forget about us??? I know in the heat of the moment its hard to remember. I've came close to doing it before. Besides the buck you're going to tag in Kansas is going to more than make up for it.
I was hangry... hadn't eatin jack all day and once that doe hit the dirt all I could think about was getting her to the truck and food into my belly lol
You're making me hungry thinking about it. I grilled a 1/2 backstrap on the grill on Sunday. It just melted in your mouth. You have fresh backstrap with that doe. MMMmmmm.
That is a 50lb Fleetwood Hunter Deluxe that Katie bought for me. It is an ILF bow, been having a blast with it. BUT, I just got a Stalker Stickbows Coyote SL with both recurve and RF/DF longbow limbs @57lbs. It will be my main hunting bow going forward. Wanted to stick something first with the bow she bought me. I tell ya that 575 gr arrow hits like a train even at 170 fps lol Yesterday I sold my Mathews... I've got the trad bug BAD but we are having SO MUCH FUN
I already know some year that is going to be my sole goal is grab a traditional and run with it. You just gave me another kind to look into. A buddy of mine has one of the Bear models he said I can test out just to see how I like it. His is a 45lb I know - which is as low as I would want to go.
I made the call last spring to switch, started shooting a little custom recurve I had everyday. 100+ arrows a day every flipping day. Finally I got the bow and arrow combo tuned up and I was shooting it very well when one evening while shooting in the basement the bow exploded at the lower fade out. I was pretty devastated and the season was only a couple weeks away but when I got home from work the next day Katie was waiting for me with the Fleetwood. Scrambled to get some arrows tuned to it and been shooting it like crazy since. There are so many good recurves and longbows out there these days its pretty crazy. Lots of quality Bowyers. I was pretty dead set on ordering a Black Widow PCH till I shot the Stalker. You just cannot replicate the feeling of walking through the woods with a stick bow. There is a big trad show in Kalamazoo in Jan. If you are still kicking around thoughts you should come up and join me for a day walking the show. It'd be fun catching up if nothing else.
Text me the date and I'll throw it in my phone to remind me month early - bout as far out as I can plan stuff these days.
