Long story short...the property owner was mowing when we arrived. The 6 year old convinced me to stay and hunt. 30 mins after mowing stopped, I ALMOST shot a doe at 12 yards. We ended up seeing 3 and my daughter had a blast.
Definitely will! I hope no one else goes back there. But I'll be there morning and evening for a sit. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
Best of all you made memories with your daughter that she will never forget. Glad to hear she had a great time. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm going out for a morning hunt tomorrow! Mid-40s for overnight lows. I'm hoping for an active, bloody morning!
Good luck in the morning, hopefully you will get another chance on that buck. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

All settled in for my last morning to hunt in Ohio. I won’t be back for 2 weeks. I saw 22 turkeys yesterday but not a single deer. I changed spots, so hopefully it will be better. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Did everyone see team 17 entry? 166” Ohio buck with a drop tine. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Funny story: We were loaded in the truck to head home Saturday night and I decided to take an extra lap to see if we dropped any gear. Found the tailgate still down. That could have been a season ender!
Last year dad and i got home from maryland to find our tailgate open..... luckily nothing fell out but man i wont forget to double check that again!!
Thankfully you caught it! I left my tailgate down about a month ago leaving the jobsite and lost my compressor. Which seriously sucked. I saw that he had gotten it but didn't see he posted it in the scorecard. That thing was a beast. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
Well two more hit listers showed up on camera this weekend in Kansas. Shooting the bow this weekend tuning myself up and my nocking loop snapped. Pissed me off. Our season opens this weekend. No biggie but damn.
I had a great morning in the woods, zero points though! I was going to a spot where I shot my first deer from many years ago. It is a transition area between two types of cover, super heavy mt. laurel, and super thick princess pines. The area used to be a great travel corridor for bucks and does travelling from food back to bedding. I hunted the spot a few times in the past few years but it was rarely getting used. After not seeing deer the previous three sits, the wind was right so I headed to the spot. I used the huntstand trace/waypoint feature to navigate my way to the tree. I've never used the app before and always navigated my way through the pines, snapping a few here and there to find my way the next time. The app got me so turned around I could not find the tree. I realized I was walking all over leaving my scent all over, so I just found a straight tree with some cover and got set up. Around 830 I had a nutra grain bar hanging out of my mouth while I was putting the container away. I caught movement about 80 yards out. I saw a doe, and another, then another. They do exist! lol! They were a bit on edge and I figured because they were smelling my scent trail from 3 hours ago. They start working their way towards me and get within 40 yards. A big old nanny and her two from this year. I reached for the bow cause I was gonna orphan the twins if they got within 25 yards. I then hear twigs snapping behind them, they turn and I see 3 more deer coming towards them. I thought it was 3 more doe. I saw a small set of antlers on one, then on the other two. 3 spikes, one of which was healthier and bigger than the other two. The cold got them riled up and were trying to sniff the does butts. The does weren't having it and left into the laurel. The 3 spikes remained and sparred, and worked their way within 20 yards. I drew back twice and let down. I did not have a good shot window. Had they stepped a few yards to the right, I would have drilled one. all 3 got within 10 yards, but I didn't want to force it through a few branches. If it was meant to be, I'd of had a clean shot. It wasn't meant to be today, but I got some great intel on the way out. Fresh deer droppings everywhere (Not where the deer were this morning). It appears the area is hot again, and it is great to see. It's one of my favorite spots, a morning spot for sure. I'll be heading back out there Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning.
Heck that's a heck of a morning right there! Sounds like you've got a plan together! Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
