Hey guys, I checked two of my cameras today. I had put a second on a nice NT I am trying to catch in the daylight. Very nocturnal buck that I hunted hard last year and only saw once. I got about 40 pix of him today. All nighttime and many are multiple pix of him on one visit but still very excited to see him using the TWO different areas I put up cameras. Now I have to slink in closer to where I believe he beds during the day without blowing it. Hes living up on a big mountain and has been for 3 years. I have only seen him twice in the daylight period. I actually came across this guy a few years ago while targeting a much older buck that I ended up killing. Now that I killed the older buck in there this guy has really taken over the old guys water hole and ridge that the old buck I killed traveled.

A few of todays photos of the buck I call sledge, I have two more cameras to check tomorrow in completey different areas.

    Best wishes Team 5!

I think it sucks that the two Wills have to be competitors. That so wrong on so many levels! Break a leg buddy!

I am heading home this weekend to sew up the few last loose ends before the season starts. I know it's a little late but that is price you pay for indulging in higher education :D

I have another stand to hang but I'm not too worried about it being too late. It is mostly a doe killing stand.

    It's getting close boys!!

Double C. great to hear from U, cant wait for u to get settled so we can talk some whitetail hunting, hope all went well with the move.

Guys thanks hes a dandy buck but as u can see very nocturnal, and he was last year too. I will continue to move in on him carefully. He wont tolerate much. I have a few others to hunt as well to keep me from over hunting this one. Its gonna take all the right moves. I have 4 months starting next week to run him down. I am headed out tomorrow to go scout then hunt that farm ground down south (opens Sun) for 3-4 days before my season opens up here next weekend!

Good luck I am busy busy right now, with teaching starting next tuesday (only have to teach tue, wed , thurs, next week) and hunting this Sunday.

Check a completely different camera in a different area today ...I put in, well actually overmarked an existing scrapeline deep in the forest where a big 6x5 lives. I could see when I found this scrape line that the licking branch was already being hit this summer so I over marked the branch too. I use BF synthentics. Anyway, after checking the camera today of which I put it out the 15th.. I have a ton of elk using the area an some very promising deer hitting the licking branch and using the area hvy these past 5 days as well. I freshened the scrape today, and branch... set up a stand.. here are some pix ..licking branch in all pix.. elk like BF too!

Well tomorrow is the day boys! We open here in SC in the morning. We found a couple of scrapes yesterday right near where our stands are gonna go. The weather looks good. Nothing like opening day!

Not much to report from yesterday. The weather changed up and I think that threw them off a bit. All that was seen was a spike, a velvet 4 pt, and 4 does. I'll be back at it tomorrow morning.
