MO: I've had my mineral out for a while, haven't gotten any good pics yet. I have had some trouble with my trailcams and one got stolen a couple of weeks ago so I have pulled them from some spots I had intended to use them to hide them better. It makes it limited in terms of places I can use the cams. But, we got our fall plots turned up and ready to plant the first of September. I'm going to try a combo of winter wheat and purple top tunips for one plot and clover chickory mix for the other main plot. The deer hammered my 1/2 acre of winter wheat last year, so this should get the girls swarming and draw in the big boys. I'll be hunting the travel routes from bedding areas to the plots. IA: I have some really good footage of some bucks here in Iowa that I'll share with you guys. One is conservatively 190+, I bet he's a 200 though. I have a couple that are around 170 and a handfull in the 140-160 range. I don't have permission to hunt the areas where I filmed, but I just got a place to hunt about fifteen minutes Northeast of the location.
I'll give my intro too. My name is Bill. I am 31 years old. I currently live in Des Moines, IA, but I mostly hunt in North MO. We have an awesome peice of property there that I have been managing for the past three years after moving back near the Midwest. It has always been good, just trying to maximize it's potential. I work for the MAN so I have moved around a lot the past seven years. I actually just moved to IA from OK this year. I have been deer hunting since I started going with my dad when I was seven and I have been bowhunting since I was thirteen. I will definitely put a doe on the ground for you guys, but I am selective about the bucks I shoot. It will take another one like the one I shot last year on my profile picture. There was another buck I was after last year that our neighbor named El Diable because of his 14" brow tines. He was just spotted on camera this year by the same neighbor, so we know he is still around and should be at least 5.5 to 6.5 years old this season. Maybe I'll get a crack at him this year, if not there are plenty of big bucks out there. Good luck guys, I look forward to getting to know you and hunting on your team this year.
Ok, Im Brent, I live in NC on the eastern side by the ocean. I am a senior in high school, have first period off so that I can hunt until 10 AM every morning if I want to. Work on a couple of different charter fishing boats as the mate, decent money and its fun. I have a new bow on the way, still gotta rig it out and all the fun stuff. I have not taken a buck with the bow, but I have plenty of does. I have high standards for a buck with the bow I guess, but I am not gonna lower it, as I know what my woods can produce. I am about to go put the trail cam out for a little while, so I should have some kind of pictures for you next week. I will at least bag us some doe points as I have a lot of doe management to take care of.
Im Carlos (aka Los) im 42yrs old and i live in S.Michigan and ill be hunting in Jackson Mi............Good Luck Team 5 have fun and GOD bless us all and keep us safe this hunting season.....
I'm Dave. I'm 29 and I live in central South Carolina. Most of my hunting will be between 3 properties here in SC. I've got a couple places I can go in NC as well. This season is all about Illinois for me. I'll be heading up there with a few buddies from October 24-31. We get to hunt for 7 full days. To say I'm stoked is an understatement! My season opens here on September 1st.
Went up there at the same time a few years back Dave, it was a blast. Just be careful so that can readjust to these scrawny SC and NC deer when you get back lol
No doubt Brent. I was up there a couple of years ago. I wasn't hunting though. I did see some huge nannies but no bucks. The does up there put our bucks to shame. I'm ready to go!
Very cool guys, great to read through all the intros, like Bill said it will be fun getting to know everyone. I am Troy, born and raised in Northern Idaho and will be hunting Iowa this year. 39 years old. Grew up hunting elk, mulies, whitetails and bear. Hunt Turks and Lopers too, but whitetails I love the most. checked a camera for the first time since putting it out July 21 ...thats on a piece about 30 minutes from my place, it had some nice bucks on it, I added them to my thread, couple I dont think I could pass on considering I will have two buck tags. thread is over in "whitetails"
Really cool we got on the same team this year DC, first thing I thought of when our saw our list, best of luck bud, u always seem to get it done. I hope I can get one down for the team as well. No real giants but big bucks for my state .. I really want that NT I have film. He's a nocturnal buggar, he wont even come to water till midnight LOL
Question I was reading the rules (not that i know how to read) and i think i read that we can shoot 1 Buck & 1 Doe for score did I read that correct?
Yep, one buck and one doe. If you're luck enough to kill more than one buck, your first buck is the only one you can enter.
I'm Cody, 20 years old and I'll be hunting in Virginia with my Bowtech! Should be an exciting year with ample rainfall keeping the food plots lush all through the summer and several of the oaks I have seen so far are holding some good sweet nuts. The majority of the property I hunt is timber so its hard to get out and glass and locate bucks during the summer, but I have learned to not worry about this as our property is called home for several big bucks during the fall. Just hope one crosses my way!
I love my Commander! I shoots great. It's getting ready to become my back up bow though. It's more than likely going to take the back seat to a Guardian.
That sounds good Dave, I think I will like it, but I still have to get it set up completely and tuned. I will probably end up getting another bow next year, I don't know how I will like that long ATA in the confines of a ground blind.
Tuning the Commander is a breeze! I've shot my Commander out of a Double Bull at a 3-D shoot. My top cam was touching the top of the blind. Part of it is the fact that I'm 6'5". I'm sure if you are not as tall as me, it won't be a problem.
So whats the date U all get to start whitetail hunting? August 30th here, Am I the first up or dont u guys in NC get to start really early???
