Yes that was me. Stayed out of there since last winter, but plan to head in on opening day. Then I will check it every couple weeks until they show up again. I missed a big 8 pt that I had a couple years history with and bumped out a really nice chocolate 10 pt that I believe was a 3 year old.

Said it earlier, I like the makeup for certain. Looking over the teams I don't see an obvious lopsided team. Defending champs will always have a somewhat advantage just for the fact they got it done previously.

I am putting in 2 entires this year. I don't have standards that bind me for the season. I can show patience through the rut and then brown and down is just fine for me after that.

No one should change their style for the sake of the contest though, we can do this and again I'll say, I think we will be in the top 5 when all is said and done.

I haven't been on the forum much the last year and a half or so, I had gotten very busy with grad school and couldn't keep up with stuff so I stopped logging on. I have a bit more free time now so I figured I'd start up again. I may forget to check in from time to time, but if I shoot anything I'll definitely post it up. I'm going to try and be more active though. Fun to talk to people with similar interests and most of my buddies have graduated and moved away.

I need deer meat first and foremost, so I will be putting down quite a few this year. May be a few small bucks mixed in. This is the first year I ran out, not happen again.

Have you tryed a commercial saddle yet? I started like you with a sit drag and rock climbing harness. Then bought my first real saddle and it was a huge difference! It gives you alot more confidence and so much more comfortable with out the rock climbing harness.

A few of us are familiar with it, but if you haven't done so before check out the Live from the Stand thread if you get bored on stand and use your phone to help pass time. 4 of us for certain are regulars on it, definitely worth the time to check out/participate.

I'll be more active in that thread but will be active here until that final sunset fades out.

Nope, I'm a broke college student haha. I can suffer till I'm able to get a real job .

Just had a doe come through but got down wind and busted me. Would've been the one if I had a shooting lane that way.

Have had one below me a few times, had no clue what it was the first time. Didn't realize we had minks here, wish it only took one to make a coat

Y'all know what that means. Pretty sure it was a decent hit, but it's getting darker so I'm going to wait a while. Didn't see her leave the field though, but the grass is tall.[IMG]

I hope that shot held true and you have some work ahead of you.

Good luck, what are temps like there?

There's a low temp of 52 for the night and going to have no rain. Should be good enough conditions for the morning. I have no classes tomorrow so should have plenty of time to look. Although hopefully it won't be necessary.

    Any thoughts/details on the shot?

We're all here to help and offer advice.

Did you see the shot, what was her reaction at impact and afterward, lighted nock, going to check arrow etc....

Holy hell, you have me pumped up and it's Sep. 1st lmao

I snuck up to the arrow and it's not great. I definitely hit her back. Arrow smells sour, sadly. I'm going to back out and take the long way around to avoid busting her, I'm hopeful that she laid down in the field since I never saw her leave, and it's six foot tall grass and probably the thickest cover for a long ways. I shouldn't have an issue finding her if she's in the field. I have never gut shot a deer before so I'm a little bummed out. I'm confident I'll find her though. I'll probably bring one of my bird dogs in the morning (excellent trackers of dead anything). I won't be able to come out here till around 9 am. [IMG]

Is that the arrow as it was after the shot? Untouched?

Any chance to get back out later tonight? I never had any luck recovering meat from a deer that I found the next day during early season. If not good luck in the morning hopefully on a quick recovery! Keep us posted.

Yeah, the grass cleaned it a bit I think, but other than that I just grabbed the nock and stuck it upright in the grass. It's very very gross smelling.
