Alright guys another weekend is upon us and time to get in the woods! So who's hunting this weekend? Any updates from the week? See any bucks? I plan to get out tomorrow. Weather has warmed up a little, but that doesn't bother me. The next 2 weeks is prime time for me. I love chasing big bucks before the rut. Have to get a Covid test tomorrow, someone at work tested positive this week and I am doing it as a precautionary step for others. It's probably going to be Halloween weekend before I get out. Next two weekends, given a negative test result, I'll be tied up at work. Usually give them the month of October as November is mine, and like clockwork, deer season opens and my workload increases. Was supposed to have started this past Tuesday but likely won't now until this coming Tuesday or Wednesday. Hard to believe November is a short 3 weeks away
During fall sports my "free" days are usually Friday after work and Sundays. Not getting out this weekend. Going to try and get out on the 16th after work and Sunday evening. Put camera out on different part of property today near a couple rubs i found. Grab card next week and check whats showing up. Usually get a few new bucks pass through area in November. Doe number 3 down! This time the hunt lasted only 30 minutes lol. Shot her at about 18 yards and she didn't know what happen and ran about 20 yards and fell over! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Yeah I was impressed with her. I first had a doe and fawn feeding around me while I was climbing the tree. Then just when I got setup, I see her pop out of the cattails and could tell she was a biggin. I waited about 15 minutes for her to give me a clean shot, and it worked out perfect. Well, no buck for me. I busted some deer that ran over the hill and busted the target buck. Did find a nice shed though! Also, during the past two weeks my friends and I have been rifle antelope hunting. We were able to get five in total. Three bucks and two does. Lots of meat in the freezer now! I do not know when I will be able to get out west next, might not be till rifle season. I will still bring my bow, pretty much will shoot any buck (bigger than a forkhorn) that is in a good stalkable location. I have done it before, so hopefully I can make a repeat performance.
I only saw 1.5 year old bucks this weekend. My target buck dropped off the trail cams on 10/01. I guess the October lull has begun. Headed back in 2 weeks.
