Tough break on the card. How was the deer sign while you were in there?

Update from this weekend, didn't get one but saw two fairly nice deer. They were both three points so I elected to pass but my buddy went after them. No shots, but we got within 40 yards a few times. Also saw a nice elk.[IMG]

Wow, that is a nice Elk. Sorry to hear that you weren't able to harvest one on this trip.

Biggest I've seen out there by far! I'm not too worried about it. I'm going to be fairly picky, so kinda going out with the expectation of not shooting one because of not seeing one up to my standard

When's your next go at it?

Dmax will be in stand this coming weekend, I'll be out next weekend. Next weekend should open up the opportunity for most if not all of us, don't recall any seasons that start after Oct. 1st.

Looking forward to putting up 50 on my first sit, hopefully can make it happen. I like my chances if I'm alone on the property

My next trip for hopefully just deer hunting is Oct. 10, I may have a rifle antelope tag at the same time, however. I'll be out there Oct. 3 as well but that is antelope opener.

    Good luck tomorrow dmax!

I may try my first morning sit tomorrow. Looks like most of tomorrow will be rain, so may not hunt much. I will see how the morning goes.

Hopefully some luck being had today.

As long as I do not get bad news Tuesday morning, Friday morning is looking absolutely perfect, if the oaks are as loaded as they are at my brothers house it could be an all day sit for me.

    Thursday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.

    Friday
Sunny, with a high near 59.

It's getting close, everyone should be hunting by next weekend.

I did a sit tonight to confirm if any buck are home. Zero sign and no sightings, so time to move on for another week or 2. This spot is a good one, but they are just not there yet. I'm going to start making my rounds and sit all my known buck areas trying to locate one. I found some really fresh scrapes and rubs the other night, but it's in a spot that I have the hardest time hunting. I haven't figured out how to hunt it yet.

Are you in the buck swamp from last season or a different area?

Same one. Just no body home yet. It's a bunch of fingers of swamp, so I have to move one to other and find which one they are using.
