PA season doest open until 10/3. Cant wait. Have a nice hunt planned for last week of October in OHIO
I've always said that I would give up the first two weeks of PA Archery season for 1 more week at the end "November".
I agree. Just when it starts to heat up, They close the season. Where in PA are you. I live in Shickshinny. Use to be Lower Muhlenberg but they consolidated all small towns into one zip code. I live high up in the MT area and 20 miles from a river and now I had to buy a permit to build my pole barn to say I wasnt in the flood zone as Most of Shickshinny is. If it floods up here we are all floating !!
I live up on top of a mountain too. I had to tell our homeowners insurance company the same thing. If I flood, Noah's coming back. I'm 10 miles southeast of Newville 17241. About 12 miles south of Carlisle. Most people know where Carlisle is due to all the Car Shows.
we didn't have to give up the 2 weeks and still got the week added in november. now big bucks will start to fall.
Sorry I’ve been MIA!!! Busy busy work schedule this month and it should slow way down after the first week in October!!! I tagged my first deer of the year on Tuesday with my truck unfortunately!!! So dealing with insurance to figure out if they’ll fix it or total it! I’ve got high hopes to keep my streak of 145” or better going this year!!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Dang man! That's not how your supposed to get a deer! Hope insurance gets it taken care of. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Well saw the first buck of the year from the stand. Right at dark had a 4 pt or maybe a 6 pt come up out of the marsh, then head towards the field. Walked by at 40 yards. He was safe anyway, not big enough. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Amazing the damage a deer can do, almost as equally amazing there is still some metal on the front of that truck amd not all plastic and aluminum Hope insurance makes you whole and you can get a truck for a rental if it impedes on the season. Good luck
He was just a temptation gauge, slightly out of range yet close enough to consider I know you already will, but I implore the rest of the team to shoot what makes you happy. Don't let the contest skew your priorities. Don't shoot a lesser buck when you normally wouldn't and don't pass the meat in the freezer because you feel the team needs more. Contest is for fun, food for the family is as real as it gets.
I still try and hold out for at least a 3 1/2 year old or older buck. For the most part I have stuck to that, but once and awhile I have shot a large racked 2 1/2 on accident. Just in my area though a 3 1/2 can have a 100" rack, all the way up to 200". Just never know. The only way I would shot a small buck is if I'm out with my longbow. I haven't taken a deer with it yet, so first deer I get in range is getting shot. But I still won't take a fawn with it. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I always try to wait until final day of my rutcation if I can before shooting whatever, yet sometimes my patience runs low earlier Just hope no one(not saying you or anyone on the team) would take this contest serious enough to chance leaving a freezer unfilled.
Stopped after work tonight and picked up a combination archery amd a turkey tag. On the third Friday I hunt. Good luck this weekend @bornfromthecorn hope you chose the right straw One thing I can say, I'm never guaranteed to get a buck although 2012 was the last time I went without, don't expect a buck encounter from me until Halloween to mid November, 5th-12th is what I look forward to the most with my best day being the 7th. If I stick a doe Oct. 2nd I have to process myself so will likely be my only hunt until Halloween. Hoping we get some temps like this weekend then.
