Looks like it'll (finally) be cold enough for me to go out hunting this weekend. It's supposed to be 34 degrees Saturday morning, after being in the 90s still on Monday. This early in the season I'm scouting out a doe that I've been watching for about 3 years now. The only thing is I may have to wait a month to take her because she has triplets and last time I checked (several weeks ago) they still had their spots very faint. Don't want to risk shooting her before they're old enough to survive. They were eating corn in the pictures, though, so I'm sure they're almost weaned by now. Our rut should start in a few weeks so I'll hold off on any bucks until at least then unless an absolute monster walks out before then.
I went Friday morning and the deer were moving. Saw a nice 8 pt but couldn't get a shot. Looks like good pre rut activity, his nose was on the ground following does. Saw a small 6 pt later. Left him for another year. It's windy here but going tonight. Good luck all.
Getting pounded by rain. I wanted to shoot a little this afternoon, but don't think I will now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sitting at 40 outside. Slight southwest wind would be a good day to be on the mountain Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hunted yesterday afternoon, wind was blowing like mad. First time this year I've not seen a thing. Maybe this afternoon.
Snow is on the ground at the house. Haven't seen the mountains yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Snow is on the mountains. Supposed to be 6" up higher. We'll see how the weather changes. Forecast show clear except for this Tuesday through the 11th. We're set to be up in the mountain before dawn the 13th.
We had snow in SC yesterday. One news station said it was the earliest snow since they began keeping records in 1887. I hunted Friday morning and saw a doe but never had a good opportunity for a shot. It was way too windy to hunt yesterday.
Well boys going out this morning to recover my buck, shot him at 5pm last night, waited a hour till got out of tree then eased out. Shot looked good but hardly got any penetration , only about a quarter of my arrow went in. It's a quartering away shot and it looked like I hit the liver and maybe the lungs too Bowhunt Madness
I didn't even try to find him last night I'd figure I'd give him the night to lay down and die Bowhunt Madness
Good luck man. When you do find him don't forget 2 pictures with you the deer and your bow in them. Post pics right away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well guys epic fail thought after walking in and catching 2 8 points fighting in the water hole within 12 yards of me and seeing 4 does that it was going to be a good day and I was going to find my buck but I was wrong Bowhunt Madness
Tracked him for at least 300 yards all the way to the creek, he never bedded down and never found bed by creek and lost sign of blood by the creek. Any suggestions Bowhunt Madness
