Talked to Marshall about camera location today. I think we'll run one at the Creek (first spot) and one at the Peak (second spot)
Good job on the doe. We just got back from the state fair and unloaded all the cows. Keeping 14 cows clean and getting them ready for the shows, but overall a good weekend. On fall break tomorrow and Tuesday from school so I will be hunting in the morning.
We were one of five teams to not score until tonight. Hopefully the deer start really hitting the ground. Has anyone else been out lately?
I didn't go out this weekend. Put new flooring down in the living room Saturday after a rainy duck hunt in the morning. Then went to a bonfire Saturday night... It never ends well when your having shots poured in your mouth from a 2nd story porch. Needless to say I didn't do anything but sleep and watch football. I've just obtained deer hunting rights to a property that we have been goose hunting for a few years. The best part about it is that it backs up to a agricultural research facility that does veal with crops and fruit trees. I've seen some nice bucks while goose hunting. My mother is coming up to visit this week. I took off work Thursday and Friday might go out Friday morning and Sunday. Need some meat for the freezer
Thanks dog. I posted a thread about the hunt. I would copy and past a link here but I'm on my phone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here's the link, Oly. Sounds like a great way to end the weekend. http://forums.bowhunting.com/bowhunting-talk/66771-doe-down-first-deer-season.html
Thank you. Yeah it was great way to end it. You were right about going back out there though. It was a frustrating weekend up until that point so it was well worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know how frustrating it can be. I've yet to see any bucks and doubt keeps creeping in. Marshall has a lot of optimism as far as how this season will go. Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
Nice Job Oly. I haven't been out. I have been slamming the wood ducks though. I get stuck because I can bring my kids wood duck hunting but not bowhunting. I had planned to go out about a week ago but we had 30-40 mph winds so I didn't go. I drove by with the kids right before dark and there was a big, mature buck 50 yards from my stand! Lots of does too, and they would have winded my before I could have shot him. But a good sign! Dunno how big as I was 3/4 of a mile away through binocs.
I talked with Marshall last night. Our plan is to hunt our Creek spot and if there are other hunters in the area, we'll just pack in a little ways. Talking with one of the guys at work who filled his rifle tag this weekend, it sounds like our days will be evening glassing sessions to put them to bed and then early mornings to see where they bed down for the day. Any one going to try and get out Friday? Oly, did you enter your doe on the scorecard thread yet? Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
Ill be out in the morning. Should be on their feet since it will be 47 in the morning and that's the coldest its been in a few weeks.
Good luck out there. The weather here is playing hell for the rifle hunters. It's supposed to be around 75 today. Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
I did enter the doe on the scoreboard and it looks like Fitz already updated it so we are officially on the board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got done with my broad head tuning. Shooting pretty on target, I'm just a little rusty. Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
