Wish I had a more successful week last week. I didn't even have an opportunity at a doe.

Heard one breeding a doe tonight. Very distinct tending grunt. They were in a crp field where a shooter was spotted yesterday by my dad lol that’s why I was there…on the way out I seen four ha. Just let me walk right on by. Heading back in for an all day sit tomorrow. Wish me luck fellas. Rutcation is a go

Headed to my lease in MN to hunt on Friday. It is gun season so I'll be using my smokeless muzzleloader. Then headed to WI to bow hunt a few days. Good luck to everyone hunting.

Hunted tonight. Hung a new stand tonight to try and play the wind. The deer did exactly what I thought they would…at last light lol. Didn’t see a deer until then and had 6 all around me. One looked like a pretty wide buck but couldn’t get a good look

I can't describe it any other way.
    Never seen one like it.
Now a blizzard may be here Thursday.
Iffn that happens, I might just shoot any buck just to be done??

Was walking to my stand in the dark it was windy and hard to see and hear. I come over the crest of the ridge and literally almost get run into by a doe and 2 bucks running full speed right at me. I threw up my bow to brace and they turned at the last second. Both bucks stopped about 10 ft away and I quickly walked in between them in the dark hoping not to get all bucked up. The grunting and musty smell of rut along with the sheer power of these animals at ground level was surreal.. I also have had opportunities 3 times on my number 1. Twice he was at 25 yards but he was chasing a doe and I couldn’t stop him. Back at it today dodging MN thunderstorms..

    Good bucks Ben.
My target buck broke off one side.
I don't care, I wanna kill him anyways as he's an old/smart bugger.
At least I know he's still alive. c2074a3e-b3fd-4a4b-a588-ed660fb76a33.jpg

Had a decent 3 year old come by me at about 11. Bust the majority of his right side off….ughhhh lol felt nice to have a buck in bow range while being in my tree at least! Heading to a new piece of public this evening. Gonna give it a sit then probably go right back into my uncles tomorrow morning.

That is crazy. I've come close to a bedded buck on public ground in the dark. Couldn't see him, but I could hear him blow and smell him. Scary stuff. Too bad you didn't have anything recording.

Struck out in missouri fellas. Still have NC, but you know, MO was kind of a good bet for big scoring bucks. Just got home.

Ma Nature is about to open some whoop ASS here.
I sat in a stand this eve that's a real ***** to get too.
I can usually sit it once a year. I need high n.e winds which we had.
Had 3 young bucks come by but I could just tell by their demeanor that my target buck wasn't close by.
Gonna be interesting next couple days!

    But cold and windy.
I just don't have it in me to sit it that.

So boys I have had a terrible go at it this year. But i did just have my first encounter with my target buck at my house. He is magnificent. He is hoping I can get a buck down before the 19, after that NY is gun and although I'll be carrying a bow the deer(that I'm not even seeing now) get crazy skittish
