Ehd has definitely slammed us. I’m after the first decent deer I see lol preferably at least a 3 year old…I never give up though. Shot my biggest buck to date in January.

Something seems off in the woods this week. Other than the weather, I have noticed that I have not been seeing any doe, or adolescent bucks. I have seen more 3 and possible 4 year olds than anything else. Not every buck has given me a shot opportunity, but the lack of does has me puzzled. Tonight, while driving home, I saw plenty of doe in the surrounding field. More than I've seen in the prior nights. I've heard of nocturnal bucks, but not much about does remaining nocturnal.

I am used to seeing doe and having adolescent bucks respond to rattling this particular week. Is the weather doing this? I am really lost on this one. I've not seen it before.

At least your seeing deer James.
Never have I seen my woods this slow with deer movement.
    It's like they flew away.

I am happy that I've seen what I've seen. It just odd. Hope your woods picks up.

Hey Eric, what was the temperature when you saw that buck? Approximately?

I knew that. I just wanted Dave to see it.

My son and I have laid eyes on three good bucks in two days with these warm temps hanging around.

Two of my buddies shot really big bucks tonight. One died 16 yards from one of our plots. The other is a waiting game. He had a deflection and they are going to wait a little bit before they go in. I am hoping it got an artery because they sent me a trail camera picture this morning and it's a STUD!

Saw a decent 8 tonight. Was walking in. Heard them coming, dropped down, they cross the trail at 30. Had a split second to stop him and shoot but decided not to. It was nice to see a deer at least hahaha

November 4th and the weekend is coming up. I'm having my kid over tonight and we are supposed to get rain here any minute, so I don't know that I'll get much of a hunt in before 5. I'll be in the stand tomorrow morning for sure after that buck and it's supposed to cool off a lot. Should be a prime opportunity. Would be cool to drag a good one back to the house with my kiddo here. Hopefully all of you are having fun this season. As far as the contest goes, we really need to see some meat hit the dirt pronto.

81* in central Illinois. Last hunt. Travel home tomorrow. Might be able to hit the new farm on Sunday. Sad I wasted 5 days PTO on such a temperamental week of weather.
