Sounds good! It's that time of year where they start getting silly. Even down here in NC. I noticed 2 dead bucks on the side of the road yesterday on the way to the bow shop. I honestly would've thought rut and pre-rut would go off a little later here than in the mid-west, but it seems they are starting to roam more here. Maybe not searching, but splitting up from summer patterns and looking to establish ground? They were both kind of dinks, but most deer are here. Ha!

    Good luck Thursday.

Does anybody have a good PDF file used to waive landowner liability?

Sorry, but I can't help you there and I can only imagine what that looks like in Illinois. Good luck buddy

From what I am seeing it isn't required. The state DNR website provides a Land Access Permission Form that is compliant with the Illinois Recreational Use of Land and Water Areas Act. Removes any liability to the landowner. It states that the hunter is responsible for their own safety. As it
    should be.

I had another hunting request letter recipient call me back this weekend and state that the land is already in use. That's fine and expected. I am just adding a few things to my letter that may increase odds. I'd love to get on some private land close to home. Family farm is too far away with these gas prices. So far twenty-two letters out. Only two responses. Its a numbers game.

Dammit, I really feel for you guys that have to deal with the trouble getting permission.
I feel guilty having so much PRIME land to hunt I can't even hunt most of it.

This won't help the team score unfortunately because I have a muzzleloader tag but they're to big not too share. Here are a couple pictures from the Iowa farms I can hunt.

Why not get a bow tag?

I actually have one farm that’s about 330 acres of amazing hunting. Only three of us are allowed to hunt it. They won’t allow me to bring anyone else so I can’t bring Ashley. So I feel guilty hunting there and slum it on public ha. But I actually prefer the public and the thrill of the adventure it brings. But if I don’t have a buck down by November 6-12 I’ll be on that farm lol

If he has a spot for you it would be crazy not too. There are giants around there. You'll never get a muzzleloader tag every year though. It would be every other.

I really need to start applying in Iowa. Good grief those are some studs.

But back to reality, I have to start planning for this road trip to Missouri. Truck is serviced, so that is out of the way. I still need a couple of items, but most of my stuff is ready to go. I just have to make sure all of it makes it into the truck and hope that I get good weather while I'm there.

This will be my 6th shotgun or muzzleloader hunt in Iowa over 12 years. I would only have 2 bowhunts in that time.

If I weren't such a DA, I would have 4 or 5 years of draw entries by now. Priorities are out of whack obviously. I was living all of about five hours from unit 5 (?) I think.
