US Army Active Duty 06-11. US Army Reserves 2013-2014 <---Had nostalgia and finished IRR time. Not my best idea. Likewise to you and @LittleChief . Thank you for leading the way.
My time in the Navy was great for the most part. I've been all over this world and I've seen things most can only imagine. I said this on the forums before, but I have a collection of DD-214's but the best one was the last one that gave the reason for separation "Sufficient Service for Retirement".
That's awesome. Congratulations for that. I wish I could have finished the 20. I'd be retiring in 4 years. I just got tired of deployments. I was a combat engineer. At some point in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 I was in Iraq. Got old looking for IED's. Took that DD-214 and ran with the GI Bill.
That's a big difference between the Navy and the other branches. Our deployments usually mean 6-8 months of getting to see a lot of the world. I have a son who is Air Force EOD and his deployments are like yours were.
My first deployment was 15 months. My second was 12 months. I was fortunate enough to get Baumholder, Germany for my first duty station. That was the best part. Hats off to your son. EOD is no joke. I worked with a lot of EOD and I actually had EOD roommates in Garrison. Great skill set.
Just realized we are still waiting for an alternate to sign up. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
