Dave- I really like that shed trap alot. I'm with Tim in that I dont like the ones made of wire. I might have to try that idea out next year.

Tim- That is a great idea for all the other finds that you get when your in the woods. I actually found a really cool knife last weekend. I'm kicking myself for not taking an as it lies photo. I will take a picture of it though and post it up. I found it in this old apple orchard thicket. I cleaned it up and it is in suprisingly good condition.

Good luck team this weekend, lets find some bone!!!

Came up short again today. I was all in bedding for most of the day and found nothing! I found 6 different buck beds w/ fresh turds close by but no bone. Really getting fustrated. I did find another dead head but thats it. Other than not finding any sheds I did find some good areas to hunt this upcoming season.

Friday was the same for Britney and I. We were in a couple great spots and tromped a lot of ground with a lot of deer sign and no sheds. I found a really nice Dead Head. Wished he would have made it.

Saturday was a better day. Was able to get permission to shed hunt some ground that we have walked in the past. Britney found 2 and I picked up 5 for the day. 2 of mine were old sheds. I'll get some pictures up tonight.

Yesterday during a dinner walk I found 2 more Dead Heads. Another really good buck that had dropped a side before dieing. Not quite sure what happened to him as he still had some velvet on the side that was attached. The other one was an old one from the year before.

Keep at it... it is just a tough year with the mild winter for most.

Well guys I had my first ever two find day on Sunday! Now don't get too excited cause it wasn't much, but it was a goal of mine for this shed season. First find was a piece of broken main beam on a field edge. I can't be certain it was a shed, so it doesn't count, but it was definately a good find. I was proud I spotted it because it definately wasn't easy to see.

After that my fiance and I went out for an afternoon walk on some public ground. About ten minutes in I found this really old dead forky. It was on the edge of a bedding area. It was there for a long time, but again, it was not an easy spot. I was happy I put my eyes on it. I'm getting better at finding bone!

I also found a nice grunt tube that still works perfectly and this knife. I didn't take a picture of the grunt tube, but the knife is really nice since I cleaned it up. Both were just laying in the woods. The grunt tube was on public land and the knife was on private.

To top the weekend off we found this massive snapping turtle too. It wouldn't come close to fitting in a five gallon bucket. Its the biggest I've ever personally seen in the wild.

Keep up the good work guys! The effort is definatley there for the team!!!

That stinks Troy! We've had the warmest tempetures ever for this time of the year the last two weeks. Last weekend I was in a t-shirt and I sweated through the dang thing.

Hopefully you get a quick melt off so you can get out there!

very nice IH and Tim/Brit !!!

got back on friday afternoon. called the trip short 2 days due to extream heat, ridiculous green up, thunderstorms, ticks and bucks still holding. uploading pictures to photo bucket and will share more details then.

as a tease.... did pick up a world class shed in my book and 10 feet away picked up its match. also had my best shed season inches wise. managed to pick up 8 sheds despite the challenges.

Great job Dave! Glad you were able to get some nice finds. Especially that double main beam, holy cow!

Looks like the trip was still a good time.

8 more for me in the past couple days... 4 whitetails, 4 elk ... couple big boys :)

I found the 3 elk sheds on the ground ( including a matched set 6x5) and that big boy in my hand, that sucker in my hand is HVY! pic doesnt do it justice.. too bad the the squirrels and porcupines beat me to them even though they are all fresh. My 6x5 set is perfect clean..

big whitetail shed of the year for me.. havent scored it yet but its definitely my best so far.. will score it soon.. 25 total now.

    Nice job Troy!!!

I would love to find some elk sheds, that one your holding is huge!

This might be a dumb question, but how much easier are they to spot than a whitetail or mule deer shed?
