Found 6 after work today. Special day for me, today was my late nieces Bday, Paige would have been 16 today. I found some great sheds and spent some good time on the mountain thinking of my sweet little niece that passed away WAY to young. Anyway I thanked God for such a great shed hunt/scout and time to reflect on my nieces short but precious life. I made her a promise too, to find one of these big bucks I found sheds from today and run one down for her next fall!

Forgot to grab my phone/left in car so I didnt get to snap a shot until I got back to the car in the dark! I did have my video camera though and videoed all the as they lay ...pick ups..

Great day, back at it in the morning.

    Nice job Troy!

I got skunked this weekend, nothing to show for walking my butt off!!!

Good luck in Illinois Dave, I think you should be ok as far as the bone being off the head. My trailcams are showing lots of bucks with no antlers. The only ones still holding are smaller bucks and most of them only have one side left.

Things are still slow here but did manage to pick up two sheds late this afternoon after work. Britney found her first two sheds of the year also so it was a pretty good outing.

Here are a couple sheds from before to get back on track...

I found the massive 5's skull almost 2 weeks ago. He took a nasty hit to the one side with broken G2 and G3. His antler was crack right above the skull about 3/4s of the way through. He must have got hit by a vehicle from the looks of it and died a mile from the road. Sad to see him go this way as we found 5 sheds off him in the last 3 years. This year his tines were really short but the mass was just unreal on him...

Nice finds Tim and congrats on Britney's first finds of the year.

I made it out for a few hours this evening after work. Was able to pick up 3 -

nice Rub on the side of a pretty step hill.

little 2 point shed (spike with a brow tine)

the 3rd was an oldie that was buried in the grass. not sure if it counts as a shed, I am pretty sure with as much skull that was attached to the antler that the deer died and this is what was left.

    Hero shot

Congrats Dave !! I suppose we better not count the one as a shed and count it as a DH. Sucks but probably for the best. Good luck in Illinios !! Show them turds over there how it is done !!! I hope you have a great time and find a bunch. :) I'll get your sheds entered.

Indiana, I have been getting pictures of shed bucks as well on my camera in MD. I had set up a shed trap that I thought would help with finding some sheds on my parents property, which is small.

I think this is a shed trap even Tim would approve. Just 2 beams on separate supports so they move independently should any buck decide to stick his head down in between the rails or get hooked on a rail... they will just move.

    Here are some pictures

on the plus side my parents new neighbor has given permission to shed hunt their land and is the primary bedding area : ) They recently moved in and had asked what the shed trap was and my Dad shared some pictures with them and the conversation went well.

    Dave

That should be safe enough. Shed traps made out of wire or fencing scare me. Congrats on getting more land to shed hunt on. A guy can never have enough !!!! We still had a buck running with both sides last weekend. I think most have shed now though so I will be hitting it hard Friday, Saturday and hopefully Sunday. I told Britney we were gonna walk til we drop.

Say to keep this fun... if you find anything of interest or odd while shed hunting, post it and I will add it behind your name in our team thread tally on the first page of this thread.

    Thing such as...

Dead coyotes, arrows, knives and ect... heck even dead bodies if you want.

Would be kind of fun to see what else we find besides sheds.
