Too bad about the buck Josh.. would have been nice to see what might have been. I'm still here gents.. just haven't shed hunted really yet.. but the good news is with 30" of snow on the ground others haven't either. I'll be into them soon enough. Good luck gents!
Found shed # 3 today. Just a spike but it felt good to get out and finding the shed was a plus. First shed I have found with blood on the base.
Shed #4 today. Its another small one, hopefully start to find some nice ones soon. Cut a lot of boot tracks today. King of the small sheds so far.
On the board finally! Had a great walk today! Snagged a nice 4 side in a real good looking new public spot I have been learning. Covered a bunch of the drainage this one was in for the match but no luck on it yet. Nice to be on the board though and I've put in quite a few miles already to get this one but this is just the start and I am already ahead of schedule from last year so that's good. Gotta love that arch! 60 3/8
Nice find Josh. Have many of the bucks shed yet? I haven't had my cameras out for the past week, and only have one pic of a buck with 1 side so far.
Cole - I really think it is just now happening here. I quit running cams a few weeks ago but I have been walking a lot...more and more everyday over the last few weeks. Started my every day lunch walks last week so I was out for 9 days straight before this last snow. Only got out Thursday thru today this week because of that blowing stuff we got hit with. So my scouting is telling me with all of the really good looking stuff I have been hitting and not finding anything until now...that it just didn't happen real early here like some other states have been seeing. I think we are just right on normal schedule. Saw 5 bucks ranging from a spike to a shooter in different spots last week all still wearing both sides. But....I have got pics from a few local friends finding singles and heard of a couple really big sets being found around here in the last 2 weeks. And the one I found today has been there at least a week probably more like 2...no blood, the burr has a chunk chewed off and the top side is slightly bleached. Found my first ones last year on the 18th so I'm ahead of schedule from last year. The best is yet to come!!! Good luck out there.
Been meaning to get my boy Scout up here. This was last year when he made his first unassisted find. He wasn't even 1 then so he was still more in puppy running crazy mode. Have only had him out a couple times this year so far but you can tell the training and instinct are kicking in as he is getting closer to 2 years old. Fun to watch him actually work out in front of me like he is supposed to. I will get him out more later in the season. The one pic shows just how much a shed dog loves sheds.
Found number 5 today. I actually have the matching side to it. So it is my first match too of the year. Man the really big ones are alooding me this year.
Covered some Primo areas on Saturday and I cam up with one shed. Its been sitting there a year but didnt have a chew mark on it . My buddy also found a small shed but it was chewed to hell. Here is shed # 5 for me this year
haha.... btw, nice haul Josh and UP I grew up in MD and live in NJ now so my shed hunting is multi state. I have a trip planned for Illinois and Kansas in March so really hoping to find some nice sheds then. It would be a big bonus to find some before then but things just arnt shapping up that way right now. Cant be to ungreatful with getting out and finding the sheds I have picked up though. Good luck everyone, Dave
