Glad to see you guys are seeing nice bucks. My food plots are coming in really well after the rain. I plan on being in the stand on opening evening this week. Keep at it guys and good luck.
I have a Tethrd Phantom Saddle, And their older predator XL platform. I added mechanical ascenders on both my tether & linemans ropes and a couple pouches to the saddle. I've just bought their Skeletor sticks and I'm really digging those so far. I had an old set of Lone Wolf mini sticks before that, that worked ok, but the were heavy for how short they are. Decided to pick up their saddle yoke also to help with the walk in. I'm still relatively new to the saddle game. Only hunted once in one in 2023, but last. year I exclusively hunted out of the saddle. A big part of the change was our move into town, so I wasn't near all my stand sets, and I'm now hunting public that is more active than the stuff I used to live near, so being able to be mobile is a must for me now.
Thanks Fitz. I mainly hunt private now but want the opportunity to be mobile if the situation requires. I just checked the weather for opening day, and they are calling for an east wind. We had an east wind opening day last year and this happened. I am hoping for the same luck this year.
Feeling better, not 100% but much better than the weekend I was planning on trying it this evening but temperatures are above 90° today but a cool 79° tomorrow…I’ve opted for tomorrow. My cameras have been quite with this heatwave so maybe tomorrow activity will change Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Seven cameras Two properties One raccoon …. This heat wave is really shutting down the deer activity during shooting times Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With these hot temps, get near water if you have it on the property. I shot all my bucks over water last year. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Had a great sit tonight. Was buck only and moved in on a active buck bed. Well it worked perfectly. There was a buck in it at 29 yards, haha. He was sleeping. Then a couple hours he got up and walked around a little then went back to bed for another hour or so. I passed on him, just not what i was looking for. Just a nice looking 6 pt. Also had 3 does go by. One of them walked pass me twice at 4 yards. Heard multiple fawns bleating in the marshes also, which was cool. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Nice sit Holt. Today is the day for us Illinois boys. I am hoping to get out of the office early enough to get in the stand.
Was after that 8 pt i saw on Saturday. But this guy took his bed. I will keep trying that bed, seems to a popular one with the bucks. I dont have any specific bucks. But there was a bigger 6 pt in there last year, wouldn't mind getting him. Bucks are on the move here, starting to get into there fall ranges and breaking up. This is the sheds from the 6 Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I have a couple I am looking for but they have been hard to find lately. I am hoping the corn is out soon to make them easier to find.
Made it out last weekend for an evening sit. Seen a fork and a young 10. I don’t have anything real big on cam. But there is one that I would put my tag on. Planning on getting out this Sunday evening. The warm weather will still be around and the following weekend is the youth season for Wisconsin. I will be taking my oldest daughter out for her first hunt that weekend
Nothing but raccoons again …it was 86° A cold front is coming on Monday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
