Not too excited about that...Hopefully i can get eyes on him and see what's going on. Might have to give the DNR a call too.
I found a promising new spot that seems to be quite a funnel. There's a beaver dam xing and it's positioned right between two lakes. Lots of does so far, but I didn't get cams there until Saturday afternoon. There was a controlled burn on one side a couple years ago and a select cut on the other. Good browse, but still fairly open so I'd have a much better view than I'm used to up here.
Thats a killer pinch. I love hunting beaver ponds. Deer seem drawn to them. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

Back in the States It appears & smells as if the entire state of Montana is on fire. Left Banff this morning & drove in smoke all day Now, my hotel room in Kalispell smells like smoke… Home Saturday & in the stand Wednesday evening. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I did my first sit on Friday. Had 7 deer come by. 3 fawns, 2 doe, and 2 bucks. A velvet 6 pt and a spike. All got to 23 yards or less. Just didnt have a perfect clean shot on a doe. They were already jumpy because of the swirling winds, so better to wait for a better shot. I might be getting out this afternoon. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Got out last night. Sitting a beautiful spot. Deep in the woods in a thicket. Completely surrounded by huge white oaks just raining down acorns. Small crystal clear stream flowing thru the middle of the thicket. Tracks and trails all over. And just 1 small velvet spike came thru. Go figure. Get to parking lot and find out 3 different people shot velvet bucks. Good night for bucks, just not my night. One was a buddy that just started public land hunting and was only his 3 sit ever. I helped him drag out and didn't get home til almost 11. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Welcome back Brett! Yeah, we've had a smokey summer here with all the Canadian fires and a couple by us earlier in the season as well. It was either hot with winds out of the south. or smokey with a N wind Congrats to your buddy Holt!
Maryland is a good state to look at. Early season and over the counter tags at a reasonable price. Just the little piece of public i was on last night had 3 velvet bucks shot that i know of. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I will be on stand right after work. Got a little property on the way home. I have to hunt in someones back yard just 50 yards from there house. But its loaded with deer. The owner said shoot them all. So im going in swinging. Going to try and get more then 1 on this sit. Then that would allow me to focus on just big buck hunting the rest of the year. He called me again last night, 2 hours before dark and there were 6 out already. Should be interesting. Usually not interested in these urban type hunts. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Well that hunt didnt go as plan. Saw plenty of deer, but i was just 20 yards off. Had 1 young doe do a circle around me and could have shot her, but she was small. Also saw a decent buck still in velvet. Next time i hunt there i will move 20 yards to the left and should be definitely be in the game. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
