I had an interesting first day. Had a young 9 walk right by me 15 minutes into my sit.but my back has been bothering me, so got out after a couple hours and was able to make an appointment with a local chiropractor . He cracked me all over the place, but the main area was so painful when he put pressure on it. I believe I have a pinched nerve. Went out for 3 hours this afternoon, same stand, had an older warrior 8 and a younger 10 that was close to being a shooter. As dumb as this sounds , I love this hunt and don’t want to tag a buck on day one.
I had to tag it as a male fawn ….cancelling my archery tag for this year I forgotten the state reduced the # of doe only tags (which I swore I had) & I can’t get one now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just remembered I have an Iowa archery tag hanging on the wall in the basement….the sun will come up tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Think you will have to enter it in the contest as your buck. You get 50 points minimum, even if scored less. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
It will depend on whether it is legal to tag as antlerless or not under his state law. If it counts as antlered buck, it has to be entered into the contest as a buck.
@Brett Smith - I looked at Nebraska revs and found this: If this is accurate then your spike would be considered antlerless and should be entered as such.
I found a buck only permit in my glovebox If I don’t fill it this weekend (rifle) I’m back in the tree stand on Monday God is good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Finally after a month of hunting i had a encounter with a mature buck. Haven't seen a shooter since my last buck. He entered the marsh i was hunting about 150 yards away. Slowly worked his way all the way straight at me. Got to 22 yards, wide open and just stood there facing me. I could have easily shot him, but he was on a trail that would lead right to my tree, so was going to let him come to me. First mistake, should take the first good shot present. He stood there for about 20 seconds. Did a 180 degree turn in his tracks and walked back 8 yards and turned down a trail that was too thick to shoot. When he walked out the other end, he was 35 yards. Didn't want to shoot that far. I was pulled back and holding it for over a minute. Awesome encounter, and weird big buck behavior saved his life, and he didn't even know it. Got to watch him for a couple minutes work his way around the other side of marsh after that.
