Never tried it but I know a guy who does. While it's a little tedious, he enjoys the challenge and is quite knowledgeable. I enjoy saving some money because he drops a lot on the equipment and supplies. Still, he makes some pretty slick stuff.
I enjoy fletching my own arrows. That's about it for now though. Someday, I'd love to get into traditional and build my own set up. I'm nowhere near a good enough hunter or have anywhere near the time though Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Rich, I recently did this with half of my arrows. I can truly tell a difference in accuracy with the NAP Quickspin Quickfletch (I have black with orange and white 2" Blazer vanes) than with my feathers. I still like my feathers, though, and left those on my practice arrows while my hunting arrows have the Quickfletch with lighted nocks and 100 grain Muzzy MX-3's. I had thought about trying the Twister Quickfletch, but from what I read, guys said they were terrible.
I shoot the Easton Flatline arrows and just shoot the Blazer vanes that came on them but have butchered several with tight groups so I need to repair them and figured those would be the easiest/quickest way.
Oh, absolutely do it. I run with Carbon Express Maxima 350's and have had no issues drilling holes with the Quickfletch.
So, I'm thinking of buying my buddy's 2010 PSE Bow Madness XS. I have an old Reflex Growler (same as Hoyt PowerHawk, as Hoyt made Reflex). Anybody shot one of these? I know the ATA is about 28.5 inches, but for hunting in thick brush and in a hang-on stand, I'm thinking it will be a lot easier. Also, if I do it and set the new (to me) bow up with my draw length and poundage, would I need to change anything with my arrows (i.e. cut them, etc) or would it not matter since draw length and poundage would be the exact same?
Dan, that's what I thought but reading some of the information on different forums and this one, some guys were saying that the arrows wouldn't fly correctly anymore. It didn't make sense to me because I'd be using the same gear (bow sight, Apache rest, tubless peep and release) with the same anchor point and bow settings. Thank ya, sir!
As long as the dl and dw are the same you should be fine. I could be wrong but it just makes semse that you would be good to go. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
