Not likely in my line of work. Hopefully, I can build up enough overtime to take more time off...hopefully...
Looks like we have 9 out of 12 voting for soccerdan90 as team captain, OutdoorAddict's artwork as the team avatar, and the team name of Heart Stoppers. I say we go ahead and make it official so Dan can get us signed in on the official thread. Any objections?
We are all signed up! Lets KILL! Anyone do any self filming? This is going to be my first year attempting this. Any pointers? Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I've never tried it. I have enough trouble getting the job done without the added headache. I'll get mine on film after the arrow passes through.
I've been trying it for a couple years... In all honesty it's cost me a few deer. My best advice is 2 things get a really good camera arm, And a fluid head mount with built in controls or a set of controls to go with it or it will look like your are having a stroke when u are trying to tape and shoot at the same time. I actually like taping for others more even though it takes some time outa my season. I have a decent camera arm and crappy fluid head without controls on it. No matter how smoothly and slowly I move it the footage still comes out bouncy. And it's impossible to zoom in/out focus while I'm moving the camera into position for the shot.
Good tips. I wont miss a chance on a deer due to trying to video it. If I get it on camera great if not oh well. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Lol well I said that too and on occasion I have dropped the cam in favor of a shot. But there have been occasions where I have had deer walk through shooting lanes straight toward others and I was just sure I would be better off with a little more footage and it has bitten me in the ***. Ill find the footage from last year I had a doe walk right under me and I opted to get her in frame for the shot and the extra 3 sec to move the cam cost me a window to get fully drawn. She turned her head away and as moved the cam and then went to draw she turned it back, and busted me. Had I had a set of hand controls I would have gotten drawn in time.
No i have never tried filming either. Pondered the idea a time or two, but never have pulled the trigger on it.....Anybody have any good bucks on camera yet this year??
Switchback if ur in the Decatur area ill come be ur camera guy! Haha and nothing yet but it's been about 3 weeks since I last checked keeping my fingers crossed!!! If I can find it ill put up the link to the buck I was chasing last year haven't seen him since late rut think his core area is actually the next farm over
deer at mock scrape 10/22/12 - YouTube That's the best footage I have of him but I got pics of him all the way thought the rut and a couple right before I pulled all my cams so unless he got tagged by a car no one has killed him cause my buddy hunts the opposite farm and he didn't shoot him
Great buck! I have only gotten does in the three weeks I've had my two cams out. I typically don't see many bucks in my area till the rut Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
