Even though season opens October 1. Don't expect me to even be in the woods until mid to late October. I have never had luck early season. If anything just burned stands. So I wait until I can start pimping out my does lol.

That’s a good move, hard to do if you have limited spots. I save a couple spots I have till late October to hunt for the same reason. You have any bucks on cams? I know you said you typically don’t till the rut starts to pick up.

I honestly have not checked yet. I'll probably check on Monday after work. I doubt anything exciting yet.

Ya never know, so I just got some good news. My buddy just got permission to hunt his wife’s family’s prop in Illinois, has never been hunted and has roughly 100 acres and he opened the invitation to me, he also has other friend farms we can hunt if his isn’t producing. My mind is blown haha

What part suncrest. Gonna check a few camera tomorrow. There is a big section of public land that is 300 yards from the house I see deer every evening and a lot of mornings. I might try hunt that little bit this year.

Less than a week in a tree. The wife wants to visit her mother in southern Wisconsin this upcoming weekend. So I’ll be in a local marsh on a blind hunt. I scouted the marsh on aerials, from the vehicle, and also did a bit of shining. I’ll be scouting my way in with the stand and sticks on my back. I also will be filming my hunt. Lots of potential there!

Made a pallet blind and set a stand today. Meet the local meth guy when I was walking out. Takes to him for about five mins. I put a stand about 50 yards from his trailer. He seemed nice. One year he was blaring Michael Jackson at 7:00 in the morning. IMG_1896.JPG the blind is nothing fancy since it will burned ever other year.

My hunting partner checked a couple cams today. This buck we call Willy. He’s blind on his right side. IMG_4585.JPG IMG_4587.JPG

I posted it in the DIY thread but it’s my cousins husbands first buck kill. He didn’t want to get a shoulder mount but asked if I could do something simple with it for him. The skull got cut uneven and it sat too long in the sun but it turned out pretty good I think. I’ll get the name plaque engraved this week. What do you guys think?
