Just pulled cards at my farm, sooo many doe. I have 3 tags for the area, looking to fill one or two early. Have younger bucks on the prop, but nothing mature yet. They usually cruise through when temps start dropping off looking for love. Also got permission on some land in the city by my sisters house, they had this buck in their backyard the other day. It’s loaded with sign I have some cams out.
Well my wife changed her mind and we are not going to my mother in laws this weekend. So it's back to plan A. I'll be in central Wisconsin in a public marsh. The wind will be great for this spot, but I'm a little worried with all the rain that we have gotten. Odds are it's gonna flood the marsh. So I'll probably be getting a little wet.
Nice, do the deer get pushed outa the marsh when levels get too high? Sounds like you could hunt the higher ground around the marsh where they will seek cover from the water. My buddy hunts MD in the marshes. They kill some absolute giants from year to year.
I scouted this area last spring and have never hunted it. There are plenty of deer there but I'm not sure of the caliber of bucks yet. There are some small islands that are elevated and some of them have oaks. The goal is to get on one island in particular in hopes that the acorns are dropping good! And hopefully I can catch a buck coming out of bedding to feed. But to get to this island it's gonna be pretty damn wet. I got the marsh and a creek to cross.
Here is my most recent card pull. First time ever getting a buck shedding his velvet! October 1st can’t come soon enough! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I could bring the waders but not sure I want to carry em that far. Since it's early season, I'll risk getting a little wet.
If your gona Hunt here a lot you can get a thin pair of chest waders they pack down really small and you can just bring water shoes to wear over them, just size up one size to fit.
Scouted some public land tonight found what look to be a couple good spots. Have to get up there once or twice more before the season 2100+ acres. Just looking for places to go so I don’t burn out my go to stands to early. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
We tossed both of those around as options but couldn’t decide because both sounded so good. Ended up going another direction altogether in order to avoid an intrateam cat fight.
