I did find a few apple trees that survived the late May frost we had. The deer traffic around them has been expectional.

    PA starts Oct 3rd
    NY Starts Oct 17th

Yesterday was our opener in northern zone NY. It rained, no it POURED all day long........

My hunting grounds were 1.5 hours from home, and I had to work this morning, so I really only had an opportunity for a morning hunt. I woke up at 4am, listened to the pouring rain.........and climbed back into bed. :D

I'll be back at it next Saturday for the PA opener. I'll update more then. ;)

    Nothing exciting to report here.

I did get my volunteer hours finished and passed the shooting proficiency test so I'm good to go as far as that stuff.

Somewhere between now and Thursday I'll hunt down my camo and get my gear ready. :)

You guys sure are a bunch of chatty Cathys.

I saw a pretty nice 8 pointer yesterday morning. Nothing huge but a solid 3.5 year old IL type of eight pointer. Unfortunately, he strolled by at 45 yards. I may try for him again on Monday. :)

i have been out the last few evenings. I am going out tomorrow in the am and the evening. I have been seeing a few does and no bucks. Tomorrow I will take a doe if the chance presents itself. That will end my general hunting season as we are only allowed one deer but i can still hunt in the expanded area and I am really beginning to get excited for my trip to Illinois.

Hey guys. I've been at it hard in PA the last 2 weekends. NY southern zone opens next weekend and I'll be out Saturday evening, and Sunday morning.

I've been in deer every sit so far. I watched a 120"+ deer last night that thrashed a tree, I'm pretty sure I know where he's bedding as well. Not sure when I will get to PA next, but I will be trying to get back on this buck as soon as possible.

I'll post more next time I get out. Hope you all are enjoying the woods!!

I don't know how everyone else is doing but I can't seem to get a shot off at even a doe.

Muzzleloader just came in this weekend in PA this Saturday a youth antlerless rifle season comes in for a few days so I'm putting down the bow for a few days. I really had no clue archery hunting was this hard, then again PA has a small pressured herd. Good luck everybody!

    Alright you slackers... ;)

I'm going to head down to Brown County Illinois tomorrow for a couple days of hunting. That's where I got the 14 pointer last year. With a whole bunch of luck, I might score another buck down there. (hope, hope, hope)

Well, Brown County was a washout. (heh heh) Major rain! I had to drive through about 100 yards of water that was up to the floorboards of my 3/4 4x4 truck to get to my hunting spot.... and that was a main road. Deb thought she was going to get stuck at the hunting place because her car wouldn't have made it out. Both directions had water over the bridges. We did actually 'hunt' in that rain.

Anyhow, first and second day were less than spectacular. Some deer were seen but not many. Yesterday evening was very good tho'. I had a great eight pointer come by but the closest he got was 40 yards. I bet he'd go upper 150's. I then had a 2.5 year old offer me a 12 yard shot. I drew and aimed at him... but he probably wouldn't score over 115" so I let him go. The big bucks are still not on their feet much. No real chasing going on that we saw.

Deb had a 18 yard shot on a nice buck... but she had a yardage estimation malfunction. :)
