Slow evening of hunting, I had 1 little dink come through my spot. Wind was blowing like heck and the rain was on and off. Back at it again tonight. Good luck everyone.
Well the UPS driver just dropped off my Buck Fever. Once the wind dies down out there i will get it out and see what it can do.
saw 5 bucks tonight, 1 absolute stud, 5x5. Big boys finally starting to move around a bit, he was up on a fringe of a bedding area with 1.5 hours of daylight left. no shot opportunities..but it was great to see him, he was well over 150 gross. Tall tined and hvy, great looking buck. Back after him in there tomorrow.
Awesome brother, see that buck is one step away from making a lethal mistake, your on to him now. Good luck troy!
yeah, I may have to move my stand about 70 yards to get to where these bucks seem to be working across the mountainside. There is an old old grown in skid trail that they seem to always be just above or below it, This is the second stud in a a week that would have been dead if I was rifle hunting and its rifle season! Always works out like that when I bowhunt during rifle... Oh well, hopfully I will get a shot at one soon. Should be able to do some calling soon too. What I really need in places like these is full days off so I can just sit all day in on the fringes of those bedding areas because its so easy to bump them when trying get in and out. Last day to hunt until Sunday for me, I am headed to my wife's State Tournament for H.S. V-ball that she coaches. Bitter sweet for me..
Thats what I was thinking, see if you can move in on them closer if the wind is right and he may just present himself again.
This is one of those mountainsides that has everything a big buck wants. Thick timber, brush combined, very steep. Extremely hard to get into and out of without making a ton of noise. Predominate southwest wind this time of year to blow the wind right up the south face of the mountainside, not to mention rising thermals. So far this year I have seen the three biggest bucks of the season on this mountainside. There is a reason they like it in there. Not to mention my three biggest whitetails have come from this mountain. Its just a special place for big bucks to hang and want to stay. My biggest concern is compromising that security cover ...going in to deep and driving them out. So far I have hung stands and skirted the sides and top of this bedding area. 70 more yards in is going to be pushing it but I do not believe too much as long as I only get in and out of there when the winds are right. I really need the northern winds to get here!
Sounds exactly like my best spot back home in Virginia! Except probably not as steep and minus the elk and cougars and cool critters you've got out there. Good luck! I'll be heading out tomorrow morning for the first morning hunt on my best piece here in Northern Illinois, I'm pretty excited to see how it goes. Then tomorrow after work I'll be heading South with JZ to his lease Friday-Sunday so I'll film three times and hunt three times. I'm getting pretty pumped about hunting midwestern rutting bucks!
well I hope you get an opportunity to smoke a big illinois bruiser cody! good luck to ya man! Team MBM needs some more points, were due to start pulling away from the competition...
Thanks Ryan! I don't know why, I just got a good feeling about this weekend and the next couple weeks that follow. I can't wait!

Make these bucks hunt you!
Made a few mock scrapes tonight with my Buck Fever. Theres not a lot of buck sign here but doe like to hang out in this area.
Got a few pics of this deer tonight when I pulled my card. He's a new one, I have never seen this guy before. He looks to be a pretty good buck. What do you all think, how old and score? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice work Ryan, on getting the team hooked up with Jim. Bucks are really starting to run scrapes here. I gotta get some cameras back out, got all mine in, changing batterys etc.. Saw 1 buck tonight, 2.5 year old 4x4, then had 11 elk come by, tried shooting the only bull in the group, had him coming by in range right at dark, couldnt see my pins. Had to let him and the cows pass by..
Think I will get my order placed this week but I don't think that I will use it where I originally intended. The area of public that I have been hunting appears to be hunted by others now. Guess that's the problem with public property.
I'm taking tomorrow off work, heading out to the farm in northwest illinois, early in the morning and hunting all day in stand and all day saturday. With it being really windy the last couple days and the winds dialing down and temps falling the deer should be on the move, so everyone be on high alert! Good luck to everyone, I have a feeling we will be racking up some more points! I'm glad some of you are taking the time to try buck fever, this stuff truely works and I feel it will only up your odds of not only seeing more deer but getting a crack at a nice old buck!
Sounds good Ryan, I will e-mail him later today and give all three a try. If we get half off why wouldn't you give them a try? I'll try to do a blog review on them too if I get any results.
